Hello there, ncjos-hotmail-co.
I appreciate for following the steps on how to add account numbers in the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Let me share some information on how to show the account numbers in QBO. I'd like you to ensure if you have Show Account Numbers enabled. You may have Enable Account Numbers turned on, but you want to make sure you have Show Account Numbers enabled as well.
1. Go to Account and Settings from the Gear icon.
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Make sure that Show Account Numbers is checked off.
If we find that this setting is checked off, let's try one more thing here. Let's ensure on the Chart of Accounts we have Number checked off from the Action column.
1. Open the Chart of Accounts.
2. Choose the Gear icon at the top right of the Chart of Accounts.
3. Check off Number.
Now you should see your account numbers.

If it's still not working, we can switch to a private browser to check if the cache is causing this issue with account numbers not generating on your chart of accounts.
Large data in the cache results may result in unusual QuickBooks behavior. Since a private browser doesn't store data in the cache, this makes it the best place to isolate browser issues.
Try these keyboard shortcuts depending on the browser you're using:
Then, try looking at your COA and see if account numbers are now showing. To check it, just go to the Accounting menu and then choose Chart of Accounts.
If it works fine in the private window, clear the browser's cache to remove the log files and start with a clean slate. Otherwise, you can try using other supported browsers to be thorough.
