I'v essential version of the software but I could not enterred the opening balance. why? There is a massage pop-up that I need to create a noninventory account to process

The message that states to create a non-inventory account usually shows if you've selected an Other Current Assets to account with Detail Type Inventory. And, it could be the reason you're unable to enter the opening balance.

I suggest changing the detail type on the desired account to something other than Inventory. I'd recommend consulting an accountant for guidance with selecting the right detail type for the Account Type.

Thanks for your response. Actually, I'm the accountant and I did choosen the inventory as a class of account and inventory as type of account. There still a pop-up massage showing that I couldn't enter an opening balance and I need to create a non-inventory account to enable me to enter the opening balance!!

I've tried several times to solve It but I'm still stuck with it!!. Frankly thinking to change the software as it wasting my time sooo much !!

Let's try basic troubleshooting. This is to check if the error is browser-related.

Here are the following keyboard shortcuts: 

• Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
• Safari: Command + Shift + N 
• Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer: CTRL + Shift + P 

If it works, use your regular browser and clear its cache. This deletes the stored cache files and get a clean slate in the browser. If not, you can use other supported browsers.

You can edit the account's opening balance in the Account history to correct it. Here's how:

1. Click Accounting on the left pane.
2. Select Chart of Accounts.
3. Locate the new account, then go to the Action column and click Account history.
4. Find the opening balance entry. If you've got the Date column sorted from newest to oldest, the opening balance entry may be at the end of the list.
5. Choose the opening balance entry and edit the amount. If you can't edit the amount on the screen, you can click the Edit tab.
6. Click Save to update the balance in the register.
