why are some items in estimates shown with 6 decimals

A possible reason why some items in your estimates are showing six decimal places could be the currency format, Michael.

To ensure that our recommended solution addresses your issue, could you please provide a screenshot? This will help us understand your current experience better.

In the meantime, if you're referring to the total amount in your estimates, the issue may be related to the currency format. In QuickBooks, the standard is two decimal places after the decimal point. To check and change the setup of your currency format, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of your QuickBooks.
  2. Under YOUR COMPANY, select Account and settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Scroll down and select Other preferences.
  5. Click the Currency Format dropdown and choose the option formatted as $123,456.00 to ensure that amounts display with only two decimal places.
  6. Hit Save, then Done.

Once done, please check if the decimal points now appear correctly. You can do this by going to the Sales section and clicking on Estimates to verify the amounts in your estimates.
