Why -1,530,764.2% Profit margin shown on project overview page?

Let's investigate what's causing the negative value of your profit margin in QuickBooks Online (QBO), dkask1.

Once your project is set up, we'll see a snapshot of your income, costs, and profit margin in the header of every project page. Your profit margin is the amount of revenue left after paying for all the costs to deliver products or services. Since the negative value is reflected on the Project Overview page, it could be the selling price you chose for goods isn’t much higher than its cost.

To ensure it is calculated correctly, we'll need to check if there are any missing sales transactions in the projects. We can pull up the Project Profitability Report to review it. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Projects menu and click the project you want to review.
  2. Proceed to the Project Reports tab.
  3. Select Project Profitability, then click the View link in the right-hand corner.
