Rules are not working correctly in Quickbooks online. My Rules do not specify a location, but QB is automatically assigning a random location. Please help on this.

I have set up rules so that certain transactions don't get assigned to a location. Quickbooks is however assigning them to various locations and I have to change them back manually which takes hours. I am paying extra so that I can assign to locations but it is causing more work than actually helping.

I can help you turn off the auto-track location in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Daniel12m.

To stop QuickBooks automatically assign a location, we can turn it off by going to the Account and Settings. I'll guide you how:

1. Go to the Gear icon.

2. Under Your Company, select Account and settings.

3. Click the Advanced tab.

4. Select the edit pencil icon, and then click the Track location button.

5. Hit Save and Done.

I've also added this link about setting up bank rules in QBO: Set up bank rules to categorise online banking transactions in QBO.

Please know that you can always get back to us if you have other questions. I'm always here to help. Take care.

But I want to Track locations, so I don’t want to turn it off.

I want QuickBooks to stop automatically assigning a location without me telling it the location.

How can I stop QuickBooks automatically assigning a location. It should only be me assigning the location.

Please help.

I understand your point, Daniel.

At this time, the system automatically fills in the Location field same as the location details added on your last transaction created. If you wish to update it, you can always choose another location from the drop-down option.

I can see the importance of stopping the automatic feature of assigning locations to your transactions. For now, you can send your feedback about this matter to our product developers. Rest assured they're working nonstop to enhance the product and deliver the best experiences for all QuickBooks users.

To submit your feedback:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then click on Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QuickBooks Online (BQO).
