Recurring checks - "Print Later"

Client prints checks once a month and wants recurring checks to appear in the print queue using recurring templates.

The template has a "Print Later" check box. Perfect.

The first occurrence, the check appears in the queue as expected.

Subsequent check occurrences bypass the print queue and are created with an assigned check number.

This is NOT what we expected.

When we look at the template, the "Print Later" box is unchecked. The system does this.

Why is there a "Print Later" option for a recurring template that doesn't actually, you know - recur?

This oversight/bug renders recurring checks to print later inoperable, really.

Thanks!

Recurring checks - "Print Later"

Printing your recurring checks the way you want it is my priority, @Jim3333.

Let's utilize your audit log history to verify who made changes to your recurring check template in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll gladly show you how.

The audit log keeps track of your activities in QBO. Let's view it to know who made changes to your recurring template and prove that the system made it for you.

I'll gladly show you how.

  1. On your QBO account, go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Audit log.
  3. Set the setting to All usersThis year and Recurring templates.

From there, check who actually change the set-up on your recurring template.

Once you're done, you can edit the recurring template and ensure the Print later checkbox is selected. This way, your recurring checks appears in the queue as expected. Here's how:

Here's how:

  2. Select Recurring transactions
  3. Locate the check template and click Edit under the Action column.
  4. On the Recurring check page, click the Print later checkbox.
  5. Click Save template.

Recurring checks - "Print Later"

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

It seems my point was missed.

No person is unchecking the "Print Later" box in the recurring template.

I was told by QBO support that after the recurring template operates the first time, the system unchecks the box.

The recurring check goes to the print queue only once, meaning the "Print Later" button is not a recurring feature and essentially worthless in this application.

I'm seeking a solution to this oversight or bug in QBO software.

Thank you.
