Currently, we do not have the option to create a printable debit note in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround, we can utilize the journal entry if it's for the customers' expenses incurred on their behalf. For this, we will credit the Expense account and debit Accounts Receivable.
When the customer pays for it, enter a bank deposit by selecting the customer name from the Received from column and A/R in the Account drop-down. Here's how:
If it's intended for the items returned from your vendor, we'll have to use a supplier credit. Once they pay back, create a similar deposit entry. This time, we'll need to post it to Accounts Payable and set the appropriate payee.
After that, you can pull up and customize the Transaction List by Vendor/Customer. Then, print it to provide information to your supplier for debiting their account.
