My account was compromised

I had to close my business account today and, after opening a new account, I’m trying to see if I can either continue with my old checking ledger without setting up a new account in quickbooks. Or if I can migrate my old ledger into the new account.

Thank You

QuickBooks Desktop does not have an option to directly migrate a bank ledger from one company file to another.

For now, you'll need to set up the new bank account in the current company file.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click anywhere on the list and select New to create a new account.
  3. Choose the Bank account type and click Continue.
  4. Fill in the required information for your new bank account and click Save & Close.
  5. After the account is set up, you can record the final transactions from your old account and the opening balance for the new one.

After that, follow the options and steps provided in this article on how to move your data from one company file to another: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Remember to create a backup of your company file before you start any data export or import process.

Don't hesitate to always ask for help if you need anything else.
