Thank you for utilizing the Community. Let me share insights about adding users to QuickBooks Online account.

 

A company admin has access to every part of the QuickBooks account including adding a user. After adding a user, you can also manage their roles or permissions. Let me show you how:

 

  1. Click the Gear or Settings icon ⚙. 
  2. Select Manage Users.
  3. Select Add user.
  4. Select the user type you want to create.
  5. Enter your new user’s name and email address.
  6. Select Save.

I'd like to verify, are you subscribed to QuickBooks Online Simple Start? If so, we have an ongoing investigation about the missing Add user button. Our engineers are aware of this situation and are working on resolving it as soon as possible. 

 

As a workaround, you can upgrade your subscription to Essentials to add the user. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear > Manage users.
  2. Above the Action column, click the Upgrade your account link. 
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade.

I also recommend contacting our Customer Care Team to add your company information to the affected user list. This way, you will be notified when the issue is resolved.

 

Here are the steps:

 

  1. Click the Help icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. In the Help window, click the Contact Us button located at the bottom.
  3. Enter your question and click Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start a chat or Call us.

If you have the new QuickBooks Assistant help update, you can follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, go to the Help > Assistant.
  2. Type Talk to a human and proceed with I still need a human.
  3. Click the Contact us link.
  4. Select either Messaging or Callback.

Unable to add accountant admin user

We are having a weird set of issues on this add user page.

 

1. It will not allow us to type into the first and last name fields more than one character before the cursor jumps to the end of the email address field

 

2. It does nothing when we click "add user" green button at the bottom of page.  Page just "bounces" back to top but doesn't add user.

I see how this error gives inconvenience on your end. Let me help you with this.  First, we'll need to perform basic troubleshooting steps to determine if this is a browser-related issue. 

 

Let's start with accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account through incognito mode. This doesn't store cache files that may cause unnecessary behaviors when running web-based programs. 

 

You can use these shortcut keys:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

 

Once signed in, try adding users, if it is working. I'd recommend clearing your browser's cache, you can check the link clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online to refresh the website preferences that might have caused the issue.


You can also use other supported engines to check what computer and browser are suitable to better experience QuickBooks.

 

If the error persists I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online support. This way they'll be able to pull up your account in a safe environment.
