First, I live in the Bahamas. In 2017 I purchase QB Desktop 2017 for windows. It has been serving me fine but wanted to move to QBO. I stared a trial account using a separate email and an old backup of my company file to take it for a test drive. After I was satisfied that it could work, I subscribed for the Plus package using my current email address.
Now here is where it gets tricky. I purchased the QBD 2017 in the United States. My subscription is of QBO for the Bahamas. I exported my company file to QBO for the subscription but it constantly tells me I'm in trial. i contacted customer service and they told me that because my QBD was for the USA, it is not registering for QBO Bahamas.
Here is what they said:
"Because it seems you are out side of the US, and when you export it only goes in to US companys, and if you are not Us you will need to get set up with the Country that your near, And i will have to get your a Support Number, The trail is US account, The Plus you are sub'd to is not US so that data will not export in to a non US
you will need to reach out to the support guide there to where they can assist you, We are US support here and are unable to help with a non US account, Like i said i would only be able to help you with the US trail account you have. and at this rate i would only be able to help you sub to it downgrade to PLUS and add a discount ( not sure itw ould be that amount ) unless it gives me that option in the plan details . but thats all i'd be able to help you with. if you want everything in that Plus account you have in the Bahamas you need to follow the contact us support on that link"
I have been using QBD 2017 for USA for 2 years. How do I get my company file work for the subscription that I have already paid for. for should I wait for the trial period to expire and see what happens?
Oh and the file I used for the test drive, though I used and entirely different email, is showing up in my subscription account. that is also odd.
I appreciate the details you've shared to elaborate your concern, @deycomin.
Let's manually create a backup copy of your company data from your QuickBooks 2017 and restore it in a trial version of the latest QuickBooks Desktop. This way, you can convert it to the online version you recently subscribed to.
First off, let's start by downloading the trial version of the latest QuickBooks Desktop. Then, you'll have to create a backup copy of your QuickBooks 2017 company data and restore it in the trial version you recently downloaded. To do so:
Here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can restore a copy of your data: Restore a backup of your company file.
Once completed, you can now start converting your company data from the QuickBooks trial version to your QuickBooks Online with the subscription for the Bahamas.

The feature in QBD US version will only migrate data to QBO US version. If you want to migrate you data from QBD US to QBO Global version for Bahamas, you have three options:
https://quickbooks.grsm.io/bahamas
2. Utilize the migration tool (i.e exporter for QBD, importer for QBO)

3. Purchase a 3rd party migration service.
Hope it helps.
Good morning Jonpril,
Hi Jonpril,
Just tried the link for the trial version. There are only tree versions available for download: USA, Canada and the UK. There is not a trial version for global. Suggestions?
There are only 3 QBD version: US, UK, CA.
Visit this link for QBD US trial license
Thanks for the response Fiat Lux. Seems like I am in a loop then. Intuit offers global options for QBO but no way to convert/export your data into them without having to give your company information to some 3rd party company to render it for you.
If I download the USA trial version, as you suggest via the link you provided, I will be back where I started. That is the problem I'm having now. I have a USA version of QBD 2017. I subscribed to QBO Global but the subscription won't complete because I have the USA version file loaded there.
I'm certain someone has had this problem
As I have mentioned earlier, you will need a 3rd party solution.
I may have another workaround to let you try.
1. Convert your data on QBD US 2017 to QBO US
2. Open a new QBO Global version for Bahamas or purge your current account
https://quickbooks.grsm.io/bahamas
3. Utilize the backup tool to copy data between QBO accounts. The tool is part of the family (i.e not 3rd party anymore)

Hope it helps.
How do I scrub my company files? Do I have to l request this from QBO Customer service as I do not see an option
