Query Relating to Migration of QuickBooks

Hello there, Stephen.

Let me share some insights about migrating to different regions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Certain features work in the US entity and not in the Indian entity. Nonetheless, migrating this to the US version is possible. To do that, you’ll have to export your transaction from the QBO India version. Then, import this to the US version.

Please take note that since you used a multi-currency on your business. There might be differences in the amounts after importing. You can rectify that by manually changing the following. Also, if you’re still using your current currency in the US version, you’ll want to turn on your multi-currency on that said version.

To export your data, here's how:

  1. Go to Gear Export data.
  2. In the Export Data window, select the Report or Lists you want to export.
  3. Click Export to Excel.

Once done, sign in to your US account and import the data by following these steps:

  1. Click the Gear Import data.
  2. Select the data you want to import.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I'm adding these articles that you can use as a guide:

For India version articles:

For US version articles:

Please let me know if there is anything else with QuickBooks that you need assistance with, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a good one!

Query Relating to Migration of QuickBooks

Hi Rose,

I get the general migration approach/solution of QBO. However, I am seeking certain concrete solutions to post-migration queries especially wrt doing posting using QBO Global for India business how will TDS / Service taxes related features works on the US version of QBO? Basically, our client would expect post migration all QBO US version features should work similarly to the India version. If this is addressed in QB US, kindly share screenshots of such a setting related to TDS and taxes.

Query Relating to Migration of QuickBooks

I appreciate you for getting back, Stephen. Let me provide additional insights about how migration works between QuickBooks Online (QBO) India and US versions.

QBO India and QBO US are two different versions of QuickBooks. Most features work the same in both versions. However, tax setup may be different due to location differences. After the migration process, you may consider working with your accountant to assist you with your data and tax setup to match your business needs.

To give you an overview of how taxes work in QBO US, you can review the resources from this link: Manage taxes in QuickBooks.

If you have other questions while working with your QBO data, notify me by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
