Same product different SKU

Hi community,

I have this product that I sell in large and small volumes; in pieces and in cartons.

I mostly sell in cartons, each carton holds 12 units/pieces.

Is there a way to set up the SKU such that when I record the sales quantity in cartons, it automatically records it as 12 units?

Thanks

Same product different SKU

Hello there, ivanbyeb.

We understand the importance of streamlining your inventory management process, especially when dealing with different volume sales.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), creating bundles for cartons is an effective way to manage inventory and sales of products sold in larger volumes. Before doing so, ensure each product has its own inventory or non-inventory item set up to assign SKU.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Lists, select Products and services.
  3. Choose either Inventory or Non-inventory.
  4. Enter the NameSKU, and other information of the product.
  5. Hit Save and close.

You can do the same process to record your items. After that, create a Bundle. I'll guide you on how to do it.

  1. In the Product & services window, select New.
  2. Click Bundle.
  3. Enter the Name and SKU.
  4. Select the Product/Service from the drop-down arrow.
  5. Hit Save and close.

Once done, you can now create an invoice. Ensure to put a checkmark beside the SKU in the Invoice Gear icon to show the information. I've added a screenshot below for reference.

Additionally, the option to automatically record as 12 units is unavailable in QBO. You may want to look for third-party applications to integrate this feature. You can find one by visiting this website: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/en-global/.

Furthermore, I've added this article about sending invoices over time as you work off an estimate in QuickBooks: Set up and send progress invoices.

I'll be around if you need more help managing products and items in QuickBooks. Take care.
