How to show the account category instead of Accounts Payable on my reconciliation and reports?

I often create Bills for my upcoming expenses to keep track of them and remember to pay on time, on the Bill I put the appropriate category, as professional services, equipaments, taxes, etc. But once i make the payment and match it with my bank statements, all those payments category are shown on reports and on the reconcilation view as "Acconts Payables" instead of the original category, making it hard to get a real description of what that expense was originally about. What would be the best way to approach this? Should I jus stop using Bills and just use Expenses?

I'll be more than happy to help you show the description of your reconciliation and reports, Eiti. Let's work this out together.

This feature is designed to display the reconciliation report as accounts payable when attached to your bill. However, you can click on the bill to view the specific expense category it was under. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reconciliation page and on the Reports.
  2. Under the Type column, click the Bill you want to check.
  3. Hit X to exit and go back to report.

Please note that using the Expense feature isn't connected to your bank so if we will use this we are unable to mark it as paid.

How to show the account category instead of Accounts Payable on my reconciliation and reports?

Thanks for the reply,
thats usually the process I do. But is not a very practical way when we have multiple transactions, having to click on each one and loading a new window to check the bill category.

I was looking for a way to see a list of bill payments displayed together with their corresponding bill original category.

Viewing account categories alongside your bill payments efficiently is important. QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn’t offer a direct feature for displaying original bill categories in reconciliation reports or combined views with bill payments, Eiti.

I recommend sending Feedback to our product developers to inform them about your request to see a list of bill categories. This way, our product engineers can consider adding this to future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Click the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Press Next.

Once you complete it, our designated team will review it. You can track your future requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
