Hello there, @russ19.

I'd like to shed some light on running a Balance Sheet report in QuickBooks Online.

The Balance Sheet report is generated with the Assets, Liabilities, and Equities sections. It is based on the formula by which assets should balance the sum of liability and equity. In the report, the assets and liabilities are structured based on the most current to less current assets and liabilities.

However, you have the option to sort the order of the report by ascending or descending.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Business Overview section.
  3. Click Balance Sheet to open the report.
  4. Select the Sort drop-down and choose either Total in ascending order or Total in descending order

If the problem continues, it'd be best to access your account in a private window. At times, stored cache files on your browser can be corrupted and may result in odd issues in the system.

Here's how you can access the private browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you're now able to run payroll, go back to your main browser and clear the cache. This will refresh the browser's settings and eliminates unnecessary data. Also, you can use other compatible browsers in QuickBooks Online.
