Cannot Display Business ID No in any report

I would like to generate a list of suppliers with their Business ID No. but the field is not showing up in the customized reports. Any ideas on how to do it?

Ideally, I need a report of all my expenses with the suppliers and their tax numbers included - or at the very least a report of all the suppliers with their tax id numbers.

Cannot Display Business ID No in any report

Hi there, @xworks

Thanks for visiting the Community. You can run the Suppliers Contact List report to generate all the suppliers with their Tax ID numbers.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Enter the Suppliers Contact List or Vendors Contact List report.
  3. Click the Settings icon on the report's page.
  4. Select Show More to expand more options.
  5. Put a checkmark for the Tax ID box.
  6. Click anywhere to refresh the page.

That will show all your suppliers with their Tax ID numbers. For future reference, read through this help article: Filter, search, and sort with custom fields. It will help you learn about customizing your report to track specific details that are important to your business.

Cannot Display Business ID No in any report

Thank you for providing additional information about report settings, @xworks.

The option to add the Business ID No column in any of your supplier reports in currently unavailable. However, you can manually transfer or copy that information in the Other field in your supplier's profile. This way, you'll be able to display your supplier's Business ID No in your reports.

  1. Go to the Expenses menu.
  2. Select Suppliers.
  3. Click the name of your supplier.
  4. Select the Edit button.
  5. Copy the Business ID No. in the Other field.
  6. Click Save. Perform the same process for the rest of your suppliers.

I've attached screenshots below for your reference.

Once done, go to the Reports menu, then pull up the Suppliers Contact List report and add the Other option in the Settings icon.

If you want to save the customisation you've just made to the report, you can visit this article for the detailed steps: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online. It also contains information on how to share it through email.

While QuickBooks doesn't have the option to display the Business ID No in your reports, I encourage letting our developers know about this to consider in the future product upgrade. You can visit this link to view the latest improvements in the system: The QuickBooks Blog.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.

Oh, that's a bummer.

I actually couldn't fathom why the tax field cannot be displayed. It doesn't make sense.

Anyhow, I hope there is a way to mass update the fields? I strongly doubt it but i hope there is?

Cannot Display Business ID No in any report

I am still unable to find an option for Tax ID in my QB Online.

After using QB since a couple of months what I have noted is that SIMPLE BASIC features are missing in the platform which is largely available in other platforms which are by far much smaller companies by revenue and turnover but they understand consumer needs and requirements and thinks like consumers.

QB should think like a consumer and should focus on its needs and requirements for this dynamic global business.

Hello @asha_kanta_sharma,

The Tax ID of your business won't show up on any of your reports since the sources of your report data is the transaction itself. It can only be viewed directly in your Accounts and Settings. You can read through this article to learn more: Targets vs. Sources Overview.

Lastly, here's an article you can read to learn more about your account and related tasks: Reports for QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, let me know in the comments. I'll be here to help.
