Tech to check what is causing the error in the built-in report - "Balance Sheet" in QBO Plus - Global edition

The balance showing in the Balance Sheet report is always showing  wrong on a particular account. I know the balance of the account since I am updating the bookkeeping, This is a prepaid account or current assets account, but when I click on the balance to see details of the accounts, a window will open showing a fixed asset account instead (always the same asset account every time).   This happens for every first time I generate the balance sheet report, meaning on each log-in to QBO account, then first time I generate the balance sheet it will be like this. But when I close the balance sheet report and then run it again, everything will show correctly.  This is the case EVERYTIME I GENERATE THE BALANCE SHEET REPORT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN EACH LOG-IN TO QBO Plus.

I was investigating this hoping to see where the error is coming from or hoping to find what is causing it. I checked the structure of the chart of accounts, and it all seem fine to me. The next time I log in and generate the balance sheet, I exported the report to excel. To my surprise, the excel balances are correct, but the report showing in QBO is wrong.  What is wrong? Please help because this can cause future bigger problems.

Tech to check what is causing the error in the built-in report - "Balance Sheet" in QBO Plus - Global edition

Hello, msdelgarcia.

From our description, you may have a browser cache-related issue. That's why your Balance Sheet report shows incorrect account balance and/or detail type whenever you generate it for the first time after logging in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this behavior. I'll guide you through the process below.

Your browser saves files to load websites faster on your next visit. But over time, it'll get outdated, which can cause errors and performance issues using QBO.

To fix this, you can perform some troubleshooting steps. Start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to the Reports menu to pull up the Balance Sheet report.

If the report shows the correct data, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

Additionally, once you've memorised a report, you can send it by email on a recurring schedule. To do this in QBO, you may want to check out this article to guide you: Set schedule and email information for a memorised report.

Please keep me posted in the comments if you have other reporting concerns or questions about managing accounts in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, msdelgarcia.
