Can I connect to my bank - kbc? It is not listed, despite being one of the biggest banks in Belgium. How do I set up VAT in Belgian Quickbooks - is it an option?

I am familiar with the UK version of Quickbooks and would like to use it for my new Belgian business but I'm confused why I can't connect my bank.

Can I connect to my bank - kbc? It is not listed, despite being one of the biggest banks in Belgium. How do I set up VAT in Belgian Quickbooks - is it an option?

I'm here to address your banking and VAT concerns, @post-drop-city-n.

The UK and Belgian versions of QuickBooks Online (QBO) are partly the same. They both have the option to connect your bank accounts and lets you set up your VAT.

Since the KBC bank isn't listed when connecting it, this means they aren't one of the supported banks in QBO. With this, you can use the Request support for your bank option to ask us to add them.

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select Connect account or Add account.
  3. Search for the KBC bank.
  4. You will get the message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks". You also will be presented with helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.
  5. Select Request support for your bank.
  6. Enter your bank's web address (URL) in the field provided.
  7. Click Request.

I've attached screenshots below for your reference.

In the meantime, you'll have to manually download your transactions from KBC's website and import them to QBO. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

On the other hand, you have the option to set up VAT in the Belgian version of QuickBooks through the Taxes menu. This way, you can automatically track your sales tax and ensure they're calculated accurately. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select Set up tax.
  3. Set up the tax agency details such as the name, registration number, reporting method, how often you file your tax, and whether this tax is meant for sales or purchases.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions, then select Done.

After that, you can add a tax rate from the Tax Center page. For the step-by-step guide, kindly check out this article: Set up sales GST/VAT rates and use them on forms. It also contains information about adding a group tax and how to deactivate one.

I'm also adding this article to further guide you in managing your VAT in QuickBooks: Tax for QBO. It contains topics about updating VAT and how to track tax adjustments to name a few.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Hi, I have tried to upload a CSV file downloaded from my bank to QB but it doesn't accept it. My computer is updated to the latest software and I have a brand new version of Microsoft Excel where I can see all the values are in order. So I just cannot use my account at all.  Please help!

I appreciate the updates that you gave, @post-drop-city-n.

I'm here to help you upload your CSV file successfully so you can have your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Being unable to upload your CSV file in the system can be caused by these following reasons:

  • Incorrect mapping
  • Incorrect formatting
  • Upload money out transactions only

To get this issue sorted out, I recommend checking the mapping, format, and the nature of your transactions. Then, upload them again afterward. Here's a link that can guide you in reviewing them: Common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV.

Once verified that all details are correct and the problem continues, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They have the necessary tools that can identify the root cause of this matter and help you with the procedure.

Lastly, if you have your transactions in QBO already, you may match and categorize them properly so you can reconcile your account with no issues.

Know that I'm just a reply away if you have any other questions. I'll be right here to address them for you. Have a great day!
