How do you set up a VAT rate to deal with Irish RCT for a Principal contractor Bill from subcontractor at 0%. It needs 23% sales tax and 23% purchase tax on VAT report

I have set one up but it adds 23% purchase tax and no sales tax. It is also incorrect on VAT report.

Let me help you set up your taxes, Aonghus.

In QuickBooks  Online (QBO), you can track your sales tax through the Tax feature. If you already turned on the tax tracking, you can now start setting up the tax rates. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. In the Tax Centre, select Add tax.
  2. Choose which type of tax rate you want to set up.
  3. Enter the details of your tax rate.

  4. Click Save when finished.

Once set up, make sure it's added to the transactions so it will show up on your VAT reports. However, if it's still not showing, I recommend reaching out to your accountant for additional guidance. For more information, you can also check out this article for reference: How Do I Set Up Sales GST/VAT Rates And Use Them On Forms?

Furthermore, learn how to customise reports so the right data show up for your business. To know how to go through the process. consider checking this out for more details: Customise Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Hi

I have tried to set up RCT tax code as per guidance in this post. However when I try to appoint the tax rate to show in the correct VAT return boxes I only have ''Value of goods / services sent to other EU countries''. In our case it is not related to EU sales and purchases.

Thanks

I can help set up your VAT return, Agnes9.

Beforehand, may I know if you're trying to apply for services from non-EU countries? Any information can help us resolve the problem.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) Europian (EU) has the default RCS VAT code. That's why the system only shows you VAT codes for EU countries.

To view the list of the default codes, go to the Taxes menu and choose Sales Tax. Then, select Sales Tax Settings.

I also suggest contacting your state tax agency for guidance on the appropriate tax code to use.

We always want to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Thus, visit their website for more information: VAT Rates Overview

Lastly, you can check out our resource hub to get links about managing your tax-related tasks in QBO.

Let me know if you have other questions about taxes in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Take care.
