Dont have the option to set up google authenticator

Thanks for checking in with us, zapkvr.

We'll need to download the Google Authenticator app so that you can integrate it with QuickBooks Online (QBO). As long as the application is supported you'll be able to connect them to your QuickBooks account. If you have your QBO account, you can use the steps below to check the integration with the Google Authenticator app:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click on the Apps tab.
  3. On the search box, type in the application name.

You can also visit the Intuit App Center to check the list of supported third-party applications you can integrate into QuickBooks Online.

Also, if you need to change your 2-step verification settings to your Google Account, just check out this article from Google Account Help for detailed steps: Using a new phone to receive 2-Step Verification codes. These steps will lead you to the QR code you need.

We can also use Google Single Sign-On (SSO) to sign in to your Online account. With Google SSO, you only need to log in once and switch between Google Workspace and QBO. You can check out this article for the steps and details: Sign in to QuickBooks Online with Google.

If there's anything else you need help with managing your attachments, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be around and more than happy to help you. Keep safe!

Dont have the option to set up google authenticator

Hi zapkvr,

Thanks for getting back to us. I'll be sure to have the above checked. Let me share some information about how to set up Google Authenticator in QuickBooks Online.

You'll have to make sure to set up two-step verification before you can use the Google Authenticator app to create your verification codes. Here's how to enable two-step verification:

  1. Log in to Intuit Account Manager site through accounts.intuit.com.
  2. Click on Sign In & Security, and click on Turn On to expand the Two-step verification.
  3. You'll be prompted to enter a few details like your phone number.
  4. Click on Turn on text message verification and select options.
  5. Click on Continue.

Once you have the app, you can follow these instructions to use Google Authenticator.

  1. Under Intuit Account Manager, click on Security.
  2. Click on Edit next to Two-step verification.
  3. Click on Turn on Authenticator app and follow the onscreen instructions.

Post again in the Community in case you need further help. I'll be around to assist you.

Dont have the option to set up google authenticator

Hi zapkvr,

Just to clarify when you say Google isn't available you mean it is not generating a code or not showing up in the options?

For the option to show up, you'll have to make sure to verify your phone number too. Also, I'd recommend turning off and on  the Two-step verification and the Turn on authenticator app should show after turning off the previous security verification.

In case you need the steps, here's how:

  1. Log in to accounts.intuit.com
  2. Sign in using your Intuit credentials. If prompted to use a code from Authenticator app, select I don't have a code. You'll be guided to request a code via text message.
  3. Click on Sign in & Security, then select Two-step verification.
  4. In the Two-step verification, select Turn Off. You will then be asked to enter your password.
  5. Select Turn on Authenticator app to turn it back on.
  6. Follow the next prompts to receive a new QR code.
  7. Enter the code to link to your device, then select Verify and save.

You can also check this link and see AlexV's post for more comprehensive steps Turn on authenticator app.

If the option is still unavailable, for us to better check on your account I recommend with contacting our Customer Care Team once more. They'll be able to assist you further with this feature.

Got you, zapkvr!

I'll be sure to take note on the feature you're looking for to verify your QuickBooks Online account and let our senior support team know. In the meantime you can still use the current multi-factor authentication process in QuickBooks Online when accessing your account.
