Thanks for checking in with us, zapkvr.
We'll need to download the Google Authenticator app so that you can integrate it with QuickBooks Online (QBO). As long as the application is supported you'll be able to connect them to your QuickBooks account. If you have your QBO account, you can use the steps below to check the integration with the Google Authenticator app:
You can also visit the Intuit App Center to check the list of supported third-party applications you can integrate into QuickBooks Online.
Also, if you need to change your 2-step verification settings to your Google Account, just check out this article from Google Account Help for detailed steps: Using a new phone to receive 2-Step Verification codes. These steps will lead you to the QR code you need.
We can also use Google Single Sign-On (SSO) to sign in to your Online account. With Google SSO, you only need to log in once and switch between Google Workspace and QBO. You can check out this article for the steps and details: Sign in to QuickBooks Online with Google.
If there's anything else you need help with managing your attachments, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be around and more than happy to help you. Keep safe!

Hi zapkvr,
Just to clarify when you say Google isn't available you mean it is not generating a code or not showing up in the options?
For the option to show up, you'll have to make sure to verify your phone number too. Also, I'd recommend turning off and on the Two-step verification and the Turn on authenticator app should show after turning off the previous security verification.
In case you need the steps, here's how:
