Have any questions for our team about invoicing?

Since this is an unusual behavior within QuickBooks, let's begin with some simple browser fixes, @LynnIP.

Sometimes, the stored data and cookies in your browser can slow down or freeze pages in QuickBooks. You can remove them by following the steps in this article: Troubleshooting browser problems.

If the issue persists, as a workaround, we can manually choose the template by going to the Design of your Invoice, here's how:

  1. On your Invoice, go to Manage.
  2. Select Design.
  3. Then choose your Template.
  4. After that, you can Print or download to check if the customised invoice is successful.
  5. Then, click Save and close.

Have any questions for our team about invoicing?

Hi.

I have imported a custom form style invoice. I would like the printed invoice to 'Show tax inclusive amounts' but I cannot find this setting.

With other invoices I can go to Custom form styles, Edit, Content, Table, then tick a box for 'Show tax inclusive amounts'. But with my imported invoice I am not offered the edit option so that I cannot get to these settings.

Is there a way for me to access this setting after importing the invoice or can I import a new form with amounts that include GST? Such as <amountwithgst> for example instead of <amount>.

You're already on the right track, Adam.

You can reimport a new form with amounts that include GST by using tags like <amountwithgst> instead of <amount>.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) custom templates are limited to the predefined design and settings established before import. Unlike built-in templates, which allow for toggling options like show tax inclusive amounts, imported forms pull information directly from the tags used during customization.

Let us know if you have additional questions about customizing your invoices, please don’t hesitate to revisit this thread.

Thanks for helping

I have tried <amountwithgst> <amountwithtax> and <grossamount> all with no luck. They are all 'Not Correctly Mapped"

Any ideas?

Thank you for following up and for trying the different tags, Adam. I understand how important it is to get your imported invoice correctly displaying tax-inclusive amounts.

Please know that QuickBooks Online (QBO) supports only specific mapping tags for imported templates, and the functionality to show tax-inclusive amounts directly via a custom import is limited.

The <amountwithgst> <amountwithtax> and <grossamount> tags are not part of the QBO-supported mapping tag list, which is why they are being flagged as "Not Correctly Mapped."

I recommend sending feedback to our product engineers if you prefer to use <amountwithgst> <amountwithtax> and <grossamount> tags.

Here’s how:

  1. Select Help (?) icon at the top.
  2. Proceed to the Search tab to activate the Contact Us button.
  3. Click on Contact Us.
  4. Type your concern in box and hit Continue.
  5. Choose Callback.

In the meantime, you could temporarily use one of the custom form styles instead. Then, enable the Show tax-inclusive amounts option and customize the invoice layout to match your custom imported design.

You could also explore third-party apps that you can integrate with QuickBooks that can generate invoices that meet your exact requirements.

Please let us know if you have further concerns.
