How to apply adjustment note to invoice. (australia)

I followed the Community answer, but in the payment process I can select the invoice but the adjustment note is not shown and can not be selected.

In the customer transaction list the adjustment note is shown with a status of closed.

How to apply adjustment note to invoice. (australia)

Hi accounts,

I’m glad that you took the time to search for the steps in the Community.

The closed adjustment note means that it was automatically applied as a payment to any of your customer's open invoices. Thus, we'll need to disable that automation, so you can choose which invoice to pay using it.

To disable the automation:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Accounts and Settings.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Click on Automation.
  5. Remove the checkmark in the Automatically apply credits checkbox.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Done.

To apply an adjustment note to an invoice:

  1. Go to the Plus Sign (+) and click Receive Payment.
  2. Complete these fields as follows:
    • Customer: From the drop-down list select the customer the adjustment note is for.
    • Date: Change if necessary.
    • Amount:, Payment Method: and Reference no. fields are to be left blank.
    • Memo: (Optional)
    • Deposit To: Leave blank since money isn't actually being deposited with this transaction.
  3. Select the Invoice that you want to apply the Adjustment Note against.
  4. Select the Adjustment Note that you are wanting to apply to the invoice
  5. Verify that the total to pay (if any) is correct after applying the Adjustment Note then click Save.

Please let me know if you still need help paying your invoice. I’ll be here to assist you further. Thanks!
