How do I turn off the annoying beep when trying to take photo of receipt?

None of the "solutions" on here work.  It is a sound that nothing on your cell phone makes, period.  Quickbooks support has no idea what is going on much less offer any type of solution.  I have uploaded a video and talked to support and no one has contacted me back with any information.  I've just gotten used to ignoring the awful, irritating noise.

How do I turn off the annoying beep when trying to take photo of receipt?

I am using a Samsung Note9 and this problem just started for me.  I completed my year end at the end of November and was snapping receipts without the issue of this noise and now, today, went to snap receipts and you don't even have to push a button and it is beeping at me.  I have tried turning the sound off, I have have tried resetting and restarting and I still get the noise.  It is not individual phones, it is the app.  Worked find for me two weeks ago, now I have the noise.

I appreciate your time and initiative to do the troubleshooting steps. I have one more solutions to fix the noise problem before we let our team investigate the issue. 

 

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile app? This might have something to do with a damaged component within the app. You'll want to do this solution to fix this if you haven't done it yet. 

 

Simply tap on the QuickBooks app icon, then hit Uninstall when the pop-up appears. You can download the app again here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/au/mobile/

 

However if you've already done this step, you'll want to contact our support. They can investigate the behavior and check deeper into the app's system. Here's how:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online company in a computer web browser (avoids interruptions while doing troubleshooting on the phone). 
  2. Click the Help menu.
  3. Hit the Contact us button. 
  4. In the box, type "Constant noise when taking receipt using the mobile app" or something similar along the lines. 
  5. Hit Let's talk
  6. Select how you want to reach them.

For the new Help menu or QB Assistant: 

 

  1. On the QB Assistant window, type Talk to a human.
  2. Select or type I still need a human. 
  3. Type it again until you see the OK. Here’s a shortcut to connect with my humans option
  4. Click the Contact us link and select how you want to reach them.

Your team still hasn't investigated this? I talked with someone online they even sent me a email confirmation.  A week later I called to talk to someone about the issue. They had no clue what I was calling about put me on hold and ask someone then they just told me I would have to wait till the problem was solved.  Wow what a great service.  This is not a phone problem as I have Samsung Galaxy S9. Never had problems before till about 3 weeks ago.  Same issue.  Beep when I go to take a pic of receipts then beep when I take a pic then a beep when I accept the pic.  Its crazy loud and annoying and I still have so much to do.  I don't know how I'm gonna get through the rest of my receipts with this.  I will definitely find another self employed app to use starting this January.  The fact that this has been going on for months and not seriously addressed is concerning to me so I'll take my business elsewhere.

Hi Everyone,

 

I too have continued to struggle with the annoying beep that persists when I'm using this app and snapping receipt photos.  However, I've discovered a workaround that seems to be working for me on my Samsung Galaxy phones.  

 

Prior to using the app, I swipe my phone from the top edge to reveal my quick settings menu and I turn on the "Do Not Disturb" button.  When I do this, I no longer hear the beep when I'm using the quickbooks app  After I finish using the app, I go back to my quick settings and turn off the "Do Not Disturb".  It seems to be the best solution I've found thus far to avoid the annoying beep.  

 

I hope this helps everyone.

Hi,

 

I have a load of receipts to do and this Beep is really annoying. It's not just one beep, but two or three per receipt and it is independant of the all of the phone's volumes.

 

I'm using the app on a Samsung A70 v.2 running on Android 10.

 

The work around, putting the phone into Do Not Disturb, is not good enough as I do not want to possibly miss calls.

 

Please don't tell me that it is my phone or me that is at fault. It is obviously an issue with the app. Also please don't tell me to raise a work ticket with tech support, you can do that internally within your company.

 

I am really really frustrated with this as I have a drawer full of receipts I need to upload.......

Someone suggested to use the "Do not Disturb" function in Settings in my S10.  It worked and I see it worked for  you.  Tell your client you were in a meeting.  Thanks to the user who suggested this workaround.  QBO should be pleased to pay you as a member of their IT department on this one 👍

Thank you for sharing this. Although still annoying, using the do not disturb option on my Samsung S10 will have to do for now. 

I've already spent far too long trying to 'live chat' with qb and send messages to them only to be told to turn the volume down on the phone by multiple people, which is so frustrating.

Very disappointed that they can't understand they have a problem with their app for certain users, but don't want to waste any more time explaining to them.

So it sounds like the QB team has so eloquently decided that keeping our business phone on "Do Not Disturb Mode" until the problem is resolved is the best solution to the inherent flaw in THEIR software. The good news is that you will eventually not need to take pictures of expense receipts since your customers will not be able to reach you and you will have to shut down your business.

 

I have found another solution that may also prove to be successful for other small business owners to eliminate the loud beeping sound. 

1. Uninstall Quickbooks Self Employed App from your device.

2. Set up an account with a competing accounting software company

3. Proceed to download and use their app instead of QB.

This is hilarious! 

Quickbooks has zero support for this and it is absolutely ridiculous to put your phone in DND mode for an app to work properly.  FIX IT QB!

 

BTW-DND mode does not work period.

Add me to the list of extremely annoyed, frustrated, irritated QuickBooks app users. I cannot believe there is no way to turn off that loud, annoying noise. I have a folder of receipts to scan in and it is driving me crazy. My wife is also annoyed and asking what that incessant noise is.

 

It doesn't seem like it's worth the hassle to try to report it because several other users have been reporting it for months and nothing has been done about it.

 

Give us an option to disable the noise!

Thanks for this suggestion...it has been working.  I check every time to see if Quickbooks has fixed the problem and NOPE, still beeping.  At least they are listening now.  Thank you again for the suggestion!

OMG! thanks for posting this.  Using "do not disturb" works.  I think a disgruntled employee must have coded this super annoying beep!  totally unnecessary to the UI.
