How do you get Quickbooks Online to create Invoices and Quotes in A4 paper size.

The invoices should print as what it looks like on the PDF Preview. I would recommend checking your printer's preferences to ensure that the default document size is A4 instead of Letter.

Thanks for your reply.

In the PDF Preview it appears to be on 'Letter' paper instead of 'A4'. My printer is set to print on A4. It seems to me that Quickbooks is generating the PDF assuming a 'Letter' size page output, and I'd like to change that to 'A4'.

I've got the steps on how you can change the page output in QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

1. In your PDF preview, click the Print icon select More settings.
2. In the Paper page drop-down, select A4.
3. Click Print.

This doesn't fix the problem. QuickBooks generates the PDF in Letter size rather than A4. When this is printed onto A4 it doesn't look good. There should be a way of generating the PDF from QuickBooks in A4 rather than Letter.

I've tried this on my end, and it seems everything is working fine. Sometimes QuickBooks will not work appropriately due to having too much cache that is being stored in a browser. We can try something to sort it out.

Open your browser's private window. The private browser can isolate this issue. You can use the shortcut keys below, depending on the browser you're using:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Safari: Command + Shift + N

If QuickBooks can generate the A4 size, we can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. As an alternative way, we can use compatible browsers in QBO. Another way is to export transactions first to PDF. From there, print it as A4 size.

The issue is, that when we try to print an invoice for example, the text goes off the edge of the page. 

In Australia, we generally use A4 size. We need to be able to adjust the page content to fit into those dimensions.

Allow me to help you further and get this sorted out. An outdated Adobe version can lead to a problem when printing in QuickBooks Online.

To update the Adobe, here's how:

1. Launch Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

2. Choose Help, and then Check for Updates.

3. Follow the steps in the Update window to download and install the latest updates.

After that, let's go back to your QuickBooks and do a Print test. If you're still getting the same issue, I'd suggest repairing your Adobe Reader. You can go through this article for the detailed steps: How to update, repair, or re-install Adobe Reader/Acrobat.

I have this same problem. We just have to accept that this software is made in the USA which predominately uses "Letter" while the rest of the world uses A4. 

It's a bit ignorant of them to tell you to get windows to force it onto an A4 page. 

hmmm At least put it as a ticket for the software guys to fix up if you want to sell your software to the rest of the world.

Completely agree with all the commentary.  I cannot see anywhere in QBO that allows you to default the invoices sent by QBO in pdf formats to be sent in A4 size.  You can't even set up your own template to default to A4.  QBO appears to ignore the wishes of non-US users.

Yup, I have the same problem.
If I preview an invoice, print it via the printer icon and set that to A4, then no problem.
BUT if I click the download arrow icon I get an invoice that is US Letter size.
 - how can I change the default so that all generated invoices are A4. I'm in the UK, we use A4.

Default printing sizes will depend on the settings for your PDF viewer ( Adobe Reader and  Adobe Acrobat ) installed on your computer. This link from Adobe's support site will guide you through the steps: Using the Adobe PDF printer

Aside from the Print or Preview option, there's no function to change the default paper size inside QuickBooks Online.

You can also check the print settings on the browser and change the paper size to A4. Just click Ctrl + P on your keyboard, then go to More settings.

QB only generates PDF's in US Letter (215.9 x 279.4mm) rather than giving you the option to use A4 (210 x 297mm). This is very frustrating and looks incredibly unprofessional when sending invoices to our European customers. 

The advice from the QB support to print on A4 and think that this solves the problem is ridiculous. Come on QB, listen to your consumers. This is a basic feature for non US customers which your competition has been doing for years.

I am too having this issue. Whenever Quickbooks randomly asks me for feedback I list a whole load of bugs - none of which have been fixed in the years using this product.
