Can you please turn off 2 Factor ID Log in..

I can help you turn off the 2-factor authentication, pkrigging. I made simple steps for you.

  1. Go to the Intuit Account Manager page and sign in.
  2. Click Edit in the Two-Step Authentication section.
  3. Select Turn Off, and enter you password to confirm it.

You may want to check out some details about the 2FA feature. Here's an article for your reference: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication.

You can always reach out if you have other questions.

I followed your steps to turn off two factor authentication. Now when I log in, it still requires me to use an SMS code AND I have to complete a Captcha.

Hello @simonokeefe,

Two-factor authentication is intended to provide additional security as a requirement for customers upon login. Even if you've turned it off from the security settings, it'll still ask for a code sent via email or mobile number.

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Account Management for QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

That sounds like two-factor authentication to me.

I don't want to use SMS to log in every time. Now I even have to do a Captcha as well, which is an insult as a paying customer. QuickBooks used to be convenient to use when it remembered my login. Now it's completely frustrating.

I need QuickBooks to remember my login like it used to. How do I go back to that?

Hi simonokeefe,

As JessT mentioned previously, I would recommend checking your account settings by using the link here

Select the Sign-In & Security option where you can then turn off Two-Factor Authentication, here is what it looks like:

In terms of QuickBooks remembering your user ID and password, you will have to check within the settings of the browser you are using.

All browsers are different but I believe that most of them will have the ability to remember user ID's and Passwords to save you from entering them in constantly.

Hope this helps!

Kristian.

I use Chrome, and the LastPass plugin which autofills my username and password

I have turned off two factor in the QuickBooks settings (as per your screenshot)

I have ticked the box on the login screen that says "Remember me"

BUT...

I still need to log in each time I try to use QuickBooks

I still get need to enter a code from my mobile

I still have to complete a Captcha

I'd like QuickBooks to go back to the way it was before, when it would remember my login, and only occasionally ask for my username and password. How do I go back to the way it was before?

Has there been any update to this? Simply by switching off two factor auth should disable this function. I am having the same issue and mine is disabled yet prompting me for sms/email code which is indeed 2 factor auth.

Hello, josh3003.

I know how important for you to disable the verification code. I can share more details about our security settings in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks ensure to protect your data. The verification codes are one way to protect them.

When you enable two-step verification, the system will prompt you for a code each time you log in. Although you have already turned it off, we still have multi-factor authentication (MFA), which allows you to get the code through email, text, or phone calls.

The MFA is the default security setting in QuickBooks Online. Unlike the two-step verification, this won't be disabled. So every time you log in to your account, it prompts you for the one-time confirmation code. For more information, you can review this article to learn more about the security feature: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication.

In addition, I've included this resource for more insights: Privacy and security in QuickBooks.

You're always welcome to add any details below if you need further assistance with the verification process. I'll be right here to help you.

Hi Giovann_G

I work in the technical field and as I view it either way we look at it, 2 Factor Auth (2FA) and Multi Factor Auth (MFA) boil down to the same thing. Using more then one method (e.g. a password) to sign in. I have it disabled on my account yet I am still being prompted for 2FA/MFA.

I have case numbers '1573899145' & '1573844376' open regarding this issue.

I understand by design sure it may be enabled but it is incredibly frustrating with cookies enabled, across multiple web browsers and having saved username/password I am still prompted even after signing out after 10 mins to be prompted with a code again to sign in. It should be at a users discretion to have this function enabled/disabled. However, your phone representatives are certain and believe that this is not the case and can be switched off. So there is clearly a communication disconnect and is incredibly difficult to get any level of technical support regarding a simple account security issue.

At the very least if it is enabled for the time being give us the option to use other popular 2FA/MFA services like Google Authenticator that are much easier to manage.

Welcome back, joshua_3003.

Contacting our technical support several times to enable two-step verification hasn't been easy for you. I like to help you with this. However, we can't pull up your account here in the Community due to security reasons.

I highly suggest contacting our Technical Support team once again. They'll be able to check the status of your case number.

Here's how:

  1. Login to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Help menu.
  3. Enter your concern or topic.
  4. Click Contact Us.
  5. After that, you'll be presented the option either via Chat or Talk to a specialist.

Also, I encourage you to submit a product suggestion inside QuickBooks. Our Product Development team will gather them for review. Once approved, they might include it in the future update. Refer to this link for more details: How do I submit feedback?

If you need further assistance about account security or you have other QuickBooks concerns, please let us know. We're always here to back you up.

"Technical" support or the people whom I have spoken to over the phone have been no help and they are making it incredibly difficult to get in touch with someone who can go through more technical fixes or workarounds on this issue saying they have to schedule a meeting. Like can we schedule something in as soon as they are available? It can't be that hard surely.
