Deleting customers

Hello allyson,

I can see how beneficial it would be to be able to delete customers in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

As of now, the option to do so is unavailable. With that, I'd suggest passing this idea to our developer's team to help us provide a more friendly user interface. Here's how:

  1. Click the Assistant menu.
  2. Enter Feedback.
  3. Select Add a feature.
  4. You can use To delete customers as your keywords.
  5. Select Yes.

I've also added this article as your guide in processing taxes: GST Overview for QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Keep me posted whenever you have concerns about managing customers.

Thanks for the info - it's disappointing that the QB Self-Employed version seems to miss out on a lot of features.

Can you explain why, in my customer list some of the customers are listed multiple times? (see attached photos).
It seems like a very strange thing to do.

Hello, allyson.

Thanks for getting back to us. I'm here to help fix the issue you're having with duplicate customers in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

We haven't received any reported cases similar to what you've encountered. To isolate this, we can perform these troubleshooting steps to fix this:

  • Reset app data to start a clean slate.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall to refresh the system.

To reset the app (iOS), here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Click OK.

To uninstall the app, you can touch and hold the app, then click the Delete app button. Nothing to worry about uninstalling the app because it won't delete the subscription you have. To reinstall the app, you can refer to this article for further guidance: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/au/self-employed/.

I've also included some articles in case you need some ideas about creating invoices in QBSE mobile app: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about this or anything else. I'll be here to assist. Stay safe.

I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled but no change. If I reset the App Data won't that wipe all the information?

I can see that you did everything you could to fix this error.

We appreciate you for performing the recommended solutions to get this resolved. The odd behavior for duplicate customers list may happen when an application encounter system issues due to a stored cache. Aside from uninstalling/installing the application, we can reset its data to refresh the connection. This will not wipe all the information in the app. The steps to do this depend on your device:

  • Android: Go to More Options ⋮, tap Settings, and select Refresh Data. Then, choose Yes.
  • IOS: From the Menu ☰, tap Help & Feedback and select Refresh Data. Then tap Refresh

If the same thing happens, please contact our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. From your QuickBooks Self-Employed app, tap the + button, then select Ask QB Assistant.

Feel free to visit our QBSE page for more insights about managing your business in Self-Employed.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps or after contacting our support, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.

Thank you for your help so far - but I cannot find the Menu ☰  option in my QB Self-Employed app.....

I have tried to go through QB Assistant bot and speak to a human but it just tells me that feature is not available. This is really frustrating. I would like somebody from Customer Support to access my account and reset the data for me, but I cannot seem to speak to anyone.

  • Quickbooks.... almost a year later. Cannot delete customers and cannot modify customers if the same address is associated. You're falling short of expectations. Quickbooks was 1000 times better when it was a desktop program.
