Let me provide some information about the pay event status you're getting in your QuickBooks Online Payroll account.
There hasn't been any reported incident of being unable to lodge a pay event with the ATO. We usually get the Waiting response to the ATO when submitting multiple pay events in a day or if there is maintenance on the ATO website. I recommend waiting up to 72 business hours for the status to change. If after 72 business hours it is still showing awaiting a response, please contact our Customer Care Team. That way, they can check the pay event submitted to our payroll team.
