It's great to have you back in the Community, @Minty44.

The Dashboard will show an accrual basis by default. However, you have the option to select a cash basis to populate Profit and Loss and other financial reports.

You can check a related post through this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/the-profit-and-loss-tile-on-my-....

The related post is confusing. I have Settings set to Cash Basis but the dashboard still defaults to Accrual.

Hi there, @Minty44.

I appreciate you for going through the steps provided in the link. Let's try to toggle your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account by signing in and out. This way, it'll update your dashboard and show the cash basis method.

However, if the issue persists, let's access your account via a private or incognito browser to check if this is a web browser-related issue. Sometimes, data stored for a long period causes unusual behavior from your browser. Let me show you how.

To access your account via a private or incognito window, you may use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you're able to see the cash basis in your dashboard via a private or incognito window, then we'll have to clear your regular browser cache. This way, it'll prevent unusual behavior to your browser.

If all else fail, I recommend using another web browser.

Also, you can always visit our Manage your account page for reference, to learn some tips and tricks on managing your account.

As always, if you have any other concerns or questions, you can always leave a comment below. I'm always here to help.

Hi

Just a thought. The client is on Simple Start. Does this affect the Dashboard?

Hi Ian,

The dashboard figure is extracted from the Profit and Loss Report, which should be set to Cash basis by default if you have selected Cash basis in the Company Settings and in the Tax Settings (accessible via the GST tab).

When you select the Profit and Loss Report from the Reports section, is the default basis set to Accrual? If that's the case, we may need to take a further look into this because it doesn't seem like intended behaviour.

You can get in contact with one of our support representatives by phoning 1800 046 038. Our line is open 8:30am - 6:30pm AEDT Mon - Fri.

Alternatively, if you would like a call-back from a representative or talk to us via Messaging, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.

  2. Select Help (?) at the top right.

  3. Select Contact us.

  4. Enter a brief description of the issue, then select Next.

  5. Select Start a Chat or Get a Callback to connect to a live support team representative.
