How to import styles

Please advice how to import custom form to create Invoice etc.

I can't find "Import Style" from Custom form styles.

I have turned "ON" the Import Style at the Quick books Labs.

Is there any other settings I missed that has to be done?

How to import styles

Hi NOAT,

It's would be best to contact our QBO Support team. That way, they can use a screen-sharing tool to check this further. They are available 24/7.

If you have other questions, feel free to go back to this thread.

How to import styles

I can help you import your customized templates,  NOAT.

After you've turned on the option to import style, did you refresh the page or tried loggin out and logging back in? We'll need to refresh the page to update changes. You can do so if you haven't yet.

A browser-related issue might have the changes not to update. You'll want to log in to your QuickBooks Online account using a private browser and then follow these steps to turn on and use the Import Style option.

  1. Click the Gear icon at the upper-right, and click QuickBooks Labs.
  2. Turn off and then turn on Import Style.
  3. Click Done.
  4. From the Gear icon, click Custom form styles.
  5. At the upper-right, click the New style drop-down to see and select Import style.

If you're able to do see these options, you can switch back to the main browser and clear the cache. Other supported browsers can also help you isolate these kinds of issues.

Feel free to see the Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates page.

Please don't hesitate to mention me if there's anything else that you need help with. Take care and have a great day!

How to import styles

Thanks for your reply.

Actually I have tried the logging in/out, refresh "F5", and the private browser method but it still doesn't work.

When I turn off and on the Import styles, it say "plugin has been activated" but I never see Import style in the New style drop-down list.

I use Google Chrome as browser with Win10 Pro.

Is there any other solution?

Thank you for joining this thread, mamnazeer.

I'm here to share some information and guide you in importing custom forms in QuickBooks Online.

For new QuickBooks Online accounts, the Import Styles option will no longer be available within QuickBooks Labs as of June 29, 2021. Existing accounts may continue to use DOCX templates uploaded prior to this date.

To do this, design your own .docx template for your custom form and map your template fields. Download and use QuickBooks Online EZ Map Fields Catalog as your guide. Once you've created the docx template, you can follow the steps below on how to import your file.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Gear ⚙ icon, then Custom Form Styles.
  2. Click on New style ▼ dropdown menu, then Import style.
  3. Choose a form type.
  4. Select Upload your .DOCX file field, then find and select your .docx template.
  5. Once done, hit Next.

For more information and to learn how to fix any errors when uploading your form or matching fields, check out this link: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.

I'm also adding this article to learn how you can personalise your sales forms: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be here to you still need assistance or if you have follow-up questions about importing custom form styles. Take care and have a wonderful day!

Thank you for getting back to us, mamnazeer.

Let's make sure you can use the import style option for QuickBooks Online.

Make sure you're also logged in as admin in the QuickBooks Online. Some of the standard user role may have limited access to different parts and features in QuickBooks. Here's an article for more information: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

If you're already logged in as admin but you still cant see the option to import style option, we can perform some of the troubleshooting steps to make sure there are no browser related issues. Let's start by accessing QuickBooks Online in a private/incognito window. Use the keyboard shortcuts below to open one:

  • For Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari: Command + Shift + N.

If you can see the option to import styles while using a private window, then that's good. We can go back to your regular browsing window and clear it's cache. This will remove outdated and corrupted internet files that's causing some unusual behavior.

Alternatively, you can check out and use other supported browsers that works perfectly with QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around if you still need assistance or if you still have other questions about importing styles. Have a great day!

How to import styles

I had 2 accounts for many years, and now I just got a new account and I can not import style own template for our Invoices. We work with different currencies/Bank account, so we have different invoice depending on which bank the guest must pay.  That we normally just change in the customize area in the invoice. Now this is impossible to to with the template option that QB give at the moment.

Is there any work around for this? I really need to have my own templates invoices/estimates.

I wish QB told me about this when I register the third account, its kind of a dealbreaker.

Hi there, @Norberto-Travel.

I can see how the functionality you're looking for is essential to your business. Thus, I recommend leaving feedback for our Product Developers. It is to let them know your desire to have this feature again.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

I also suggest visiting this link. It's a forum where customers' feedback is listed.

For now, we can set up a new invoice template and style it the way you want. Let me show you on how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, click Custom Form Styles.
  3. To create a new template, click the New Style button in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. Select Invoice.
  5. Go to the Design tab to edit the template name, logo, color, font, and margins.
  6. Go to the Content tab to customize the header, body, and footer of the invoice template.
  7. Click Done when finished.
