How do I set up a Terms entry in QBO that makes the Due Date the last day of the month following the Bill or Invoice's date?

Using 30 days for each field under "Due by certain day of the month", I am currently capturing bills for January that are showing the due date as 2nd March instead of 28th February.

Welcome to the Community, dave203.

Setting the due date to the end of the month isn't possible when using the 30 days term. I'll share a method so it shows the last day of the month.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, select All lists.
  2. Click Terms, then New.
  3. Enter your desired name, In the Due by certain days of the month enter 31.
  4. In the next box Due the next month if issued within input 31.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

How do I set up a Terms entry in QBO that makes the Due Date the last day of the month following the Bill or Invoice's date?

Tested and your solution works perfectly. The "trick" is to use 31 days to represent a month and not 30 days.

Thank you.

How do I set up a Terms entry in QBO that makes the Due Date the last day of the month following the Bill or Invoice's date?

I created a new Term called 'End of Next Month' and followed your advice regarding Due By and Due the Next Month by entering 31 in both fields.  When I create an Invoice or Bill that is dated the 31st January, the due date of the Bill or Invoice comes up as 31st of March.  It should be 28th February. Please help.

Good day, kmsbservices-out.

There are two options when setting up terms in QuickBooks Online (QBO), the Due in fixed numbers of days and the Due by certain day of the month. Since the bill's due date shows up as March 31st, it's possible that the later option was set up. This is the reason why the date jumps up to March 31st  because there's no 31st in February.

If you wish to show Feb 28 as the due date, you'll want to create separate term that will fall for that certain date.

I've attached a sample screenshot that you can refer. It shows that the Due in fixed number of days option is used indicating 28 as the fixed number.
