Hi. How can I add an account limit to a client so that if open invoices exceed this amount, it does not allow new invoices to be processed.

Hi. How can I add an account limit to a client so that if open invoices exceed this amount, it does not allow new invoices to be processed.

Currently, adding a limit to a client's account isn't an option in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @gavin12. But I've got a workaround for this. I'd suggest adding a reminder in the Notes field through their profile. This way, you'll be able to identify the account limit for them.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu.
  2. Select the Customers tab.
  3. Choose the name of the client to open their profile.
  4. Go to the Customer Details tab, then click the Edit button.
  5. Select the Notes tab.
  6. Type in their account limit, then click Save.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last two steps.

After that, you can pull up the Customer Contact List report from the Reports menu. Customise it to include the Notes column. Then, you can print it by selecting the Print icon above the said report. This way, you'll have a reference on how much is the account limit for a specific client before creating their invoices.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

If you are a wholesaler trading merchandises, consider having an inventory management app to manage your reseller. You may set a credit limit to every one of them.
