Hi - when creating an invoice - how do I change the setting to display the company name in stead of the customer name when searching for the company to invoice

Welcome to QuickBooks, accounts316.

For now, you'll have to click the customer name and click Edit to see your customer's information which includes the company name that you'll have to invoice. You'll want to enter your customer and company name on the Customer field when adding a customer as a workaround. Let guide you with the steps.

  1. Click Sales on the left menu.
  2. Go to the Customers tab, click the New customer button to add a new customer.
  3. Enter the necessary information such as the company, name, address etc. . .
  4. Make sure to enter the customer and company name on the Display name as field.
  5. Click Save.

I have these help articles in case you have any other questions about QuickBooks Online.

Reach out to us if you need further assistance. I'll always be here to help you anytime.

Hello there, @Jacqui7.

I'll share some troubleshooting steps to help you fix the issue with displaying the customer's name on your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To get rid of this problem, I suggest logging into your account using a private browser/ incognito mode. Private browsing prevents cookies from being stored on your computer, making it a great place to identify browser-related issues. Use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Once signed in, create an invoice for your customer from there. If you're able to make it using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

If the issue persists, please provide a screenshot of the exact page where you are having this issue. This way, we can provide the best possible solution to your concern.

Additionally, check out this article for your reference in receiving and categorizing invoice payments in QuickBooks Online: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know how these steps work out and if you have any follow-up questions. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Keep safe.
