Hi there
I have a South African based company and I've just purchased a QBO subscription and need assistance moving my company files from Quickbooks Pro 2019 desktop to QBO. My desktop version has just stopped working, I have a recent backup of my company files. I have tried the suggestions on the community without any luck, Please advise.
Thank you
You may have 2 options:
1. Purchase a 3rd party service to convert your data from QB Desktop to QB Online South Africa version
2. Use the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 to access your historical data for good. Then you will start from scratch in QB Online.
Thank you
Do you have a suggestion for 3rd party conversion please? I have seen some but it is quite costly based on foreign currency, I have lost access to the administrator and was forced to get the online version so I only have backups in .QBB format and no way to convert the file to Excel or CSV, only after purchasing the online version am I told there is no way to migrate the files to online unless the backups are in excel or csv and this now means losing over 15years of information to start from scratch.
Have you contacted @Fiat Lux - ASIA ?
They can offer both options. Converting 15 years of data would be expensive. You can request the second option to lower your conversion costs. Then you start from scratch as I mentioned before or just convert your last 2 years of data.

Also, turn on the Multicurrency and VAT features prior to importing data. Keep in mind that these settings will impact certain imported lists. Bring your lists and items into QBO in the specified order:
Regarding your historical transactions, enter them manually in your company. Refer to this article for detailed instructions: Enter historical information in QuickBooks Online. Please know it's from the US region, but the process still applies in your region.
Furthermore, enter the balance of your real-life bank account for the selected day to ensure everything aligns from the beginning. In case you connect your bank and credit card accounts, QBO automatically downloads your historical entries up to a certain date.
Otherwise, manually enter the opening balance. Here's how:
You can go over this guide for more insights: Enter and manage opening balances in QuickBooks Online.
