I can help you fix the issue you’re having to reconcile your accounts, @Kdavis2.

To resolve this, you can recreate that deleted transaction and then update its status as Reconciled (R) manually.

You can review your Audit Log to see the details of this deleted transaction.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon () and select Audit Log.
  2. Look for that deleted transaction and click View.
  3. Click the arrow on when it was created and deleted.
  4. Take note of the transaction details.
  5. Recreate the transaction manually by clicking the + New button.

Check this article for more information: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

From here, you can manually reconcile the transaction from the Bank Register.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab and select Chart of Accounts
  2. Click on the View Register drop-down on the bank where you added this transaction.
  3. Change the reconciliation status to "R" by clicking on the blank box in the column marked with a checkmark.
  4. Once your transaction has an next to it, it's reconciled.
  5. Click on Save once you're done.

I deleted a reconciled transaction from the register and can't reconcile until a fix the problem. How do I fix this issue?

Good day,

I encountered the same problem. The only issue now is that the transactions show in the expenses journal but it doesn't show in the Chart of accounts. Hence I am unable to reconcile it manually. I accidently deleted 3 months worth of transactions but was able to recreate it from the bank statements, but now it doesn't show in Chart of accounts.

Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Community, @Johan8.

Let me share with you some insights on how you can reconcile again the deleted transactions that have been added back.

You can reconcile your account again, but make sure to categorize and match transactions correctly.

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to Settings ⚙ and then Reconcile.
  2. From the Account ▼ dropdown, choose the account you want to reconcile. It should be the same as your statement.

Important: If there's a message about a previous reconciliation, click We can help you fix it. Fix this before you start.

  3. Check the Beginning balance. The beginning balance in QuickBooks should match your statement. Do this if they don't match.
  4. Type in the Ending balance and Ending date on your statement. Some banks show the ending balance as a "new balance."
  5. If it's present, check the Last statement ending date. This should be the end date of your last reconciliation. The current bank statement should start the day after.
  6. When ready, click Start reconciling.
