How to find out what the exception documents were in re-opened VAT filing

I need to find out what the exception documents were in a re-opened VAT period. I can see in the summary view of the re-opened report that there were exceptions totaling 195.55. However, when I try re-file the same period again, the exception amount has disappeared. How can I found out what documents were meant to be included, because the exception report is now blank?

I tried using the Supplier Transaction report to view documents created after the last filed return date with a VAT period of before the current period (ie. exception), but it doesn't add up to 195.55 (it's short). Is there no way to find out what documents should be part of the exception list? I can see the VAT return is now out by 195.55, so it's the exception documents that are now missing. This is a major concern because it means we're losing money from not being able to note the exceptions anymore.

How to find out what the exception documents were in re-opened VAT filing

I appreciate you for sharing the details of your concern with us, Steven.

I can share some insights on how to isolate this issue and view your exceptions report at ease.

I suggest logging out and logging back in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account to refresh it and for the updates to take effect. If the issue persists, you'll want to ensure you filter the report accurately. Make sure to toggle the Cash or Accrual accounting method based on the information you need.

If this is not the case, I recommend logging in to your account in a private or incognito window and running your report from there. This way, we can check if this is a browser cached issue.

Too much data from the browser causes discrepancies that affect the view and performance of your account. Using an incognito window helps us verify the issue as this doesn't save any data files.

To open a private window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Press keys: Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome browser
  • Press keys: Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browsers
  • Press keys: Command + Shift + N for Safari browser

If you’re able to view your report seamlessly, I’d suggest clearing your regular browser's cache. This helps your browser to function seamlessly. If the issue remains, I recommend using other supported browsers. This way, we can check if this is a browser-specific issue.

Once you're all set, you might want to read this article that can guide you on how to efficiently file your returns: File your VAT return and record tax payment in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be here if you need more assistance managing your VAT or QuickBooks. Just leave the details in your reply and I'll take care of it for you. Keep safe and have a good one!
