Vat not calculating correctly

Hi there, @mike-shadefix-co.

I'm here to help ensure that your VAT will be calculated properly. Let's perform some steps to get this working.

To start with, make sure that your VAT setup is correct. A piece of incorrect information may affect the calculation of your VAT.

Make sure that your set up goes like this, so it will be calculated accurately:

  1. On the left panel, click on VAT.
  2. Select on Set up VAT.
  3. From the Set up VAT page, choose the Start of VAT period (the date that you became a VAT registered), Filing frequencyReporting method, and your VAT Registration No..
  4. Hit on Next.
  5. Press on Got it.

Once verified and the problem continues, let's access your QuickBooks Online account using a private window to isolate this matter. This mode prevents the system from using stored internet history, passwords, or cookies.

Know that, unexpected behaviors while working with VAT in the system can sometimes be caused by corrupted files on your browser.

Here are the shortcut keys for each browser:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome
  • Hit Ctrl + Shift + P for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox
  • Hold Command + Shift + N for Safari

If it's now calculating correctly, clear the cache of the browser you previously used. This enhances the overall performance of the browser and the application. Using other supported browsers is a good alternative too.

I also suggest running the Health Checkup Tool. This checks your browser's performance and it's compatibility with QBO.

I'm also adding these help articles below to give you more insights about VAT rates in the system and if you need assistance with filing and paying your taxes, these links will get you covered:

Let me know if there's anything else that you need about this or with QuickBooks. I'll be around to lend a helping hand. Have a good one!
