I currently have a single licence QBDT Desktop 2020 Pro (UK Version) parked on my laptop. Although it is the UK version, my company is in Rwanda, home currency Rwanda Francs. I want to use it in a multi-user environment across countries (4 other users plus myself = 5).
Do i need to migrate to QB online, or can I buy more user licences and set up my QB Desktop as a cloud-based multi-user app? If so, how to go about doing this?
I am also concerned that support for QBDT is ending in 2023....what does this mean for me and my intention to set up the multi-user environment?
Very confused....any help is appreciated.
You may have some options to consider:
1. Purchase 4 additional seats for your existing one time license QBD 2020 UK Pro for single user. Then setup a private cloud.
2. Purchase a new one time license for QBD 2020 UK Pro for 5 users. Then setup a private cloud.
3. Purchase a new one time license for QBD 2021 US Premier for 5 users. Then setup a private cloud. They support this version until May 2024 and you can still use it without support after that.
4. Migrate to QBO Global version for Rwanda. Highly recommend for users unfamiliar with QB Desktop.
Hello there, PatinAfrica.
I'm here to share some information about how you can access QuickBooks in different countries and users.
You'll migrate from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) to have your users access and view the data even if they're logged in from a different country.
Ensuring they're using a compatible browser and the computer meets the minimum requirements for QBO. You can check this article for more details: System Requirements for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Accountant and QuickBooks Self-Employed.
You can refer to this article to migrate files to QBO: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
With the discontinuation in 2023, you can still use the app if you have purchased a not subscription-based. However, there will be no more updates, and you will have to troubleshoot all the issues manually.
Check this link for more information about the discontinuation of the QBDT UK version: QuickBooks Desktop is being discontinued.
I've added this article that you can visit about FAQs when importing data: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to let me know if there's anything else you need. I want to make sure you're all set. I'm always here to help. Have a nice day!
