Add an accountant to review your accounting in QuickBooks Online

Learn how to remove your accountant in QuickBooks Online.

Your accountant can be your best work partner. You can give your accountant access to your QuickBooks Online company file and accounting info. This lets them review your books, make corrections, and fix any tricky transactions. It also makes it easier to collaborate, especially during tax season.

This gives your accountant access to your books and accounting info. They also have accountant-specific tools to help them with their reviews.

Add an accountant as a user

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Manage users.
  2. Select Add user, then Company Admin
  3. Select This user is my accountant.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Enter your accountant’s name and email, then Save.

Note: You can only have one accountant user. The user doesn’t count toward your user limit.

What does this mean to you?

  1. Your accountant will have access to all of the features available in your version of QBO.
  2. You can invite up to two accountants.
  3. Accountant users have additional privileges that allow them to undo entire reconciliations, reclassify transactions and write off invoices.

Remove an accountant

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Manage users.
  2. Find the accountant you want to remove.
  3. From the Action▼ dropdown, select Delete.
  4. Select Remove to confirm.
