Could it be possible to produce a list of NEW customers that have purchased over the course of x days? (first time customers)

My daughter's business runs on QBO.  She would like to know if there is a way ti produce a listing of NEW customers that have been invoiced over the course of a given period (i.e. last 3 months).   The idea behind it is to be able to include them in a special posting of social media that receive notices of special deals ahead of the list of customers.

It's nice to see you here, @CharlieB65.

Currently, there is no direct way to view the list of new customers that were invoiced for the last three months. However, I can show you how to run and customise reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to generate the necessary information.

To show the list of new customers, let's run the Customer Contact List report and filter them by the date they were created in QBO. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports and search for the Customer Contact List report.
  2. Click Customise.
  3. Go to the Filter section and select Custom in the Created Date dropdown.
  4. Set the date to the last three months.
  5. Click Run Report.

Then, note the names of the customers that appear so you can use them later when you run another report.

Once done, run the Transaction List by Customer to determine which customers were invoiced for the last three months. To do that:

  1. On the Reports page, search for the Transaction List by Customer report.
  2. Click Customise.
  3. Set the Report period to the last three months.
  4. In the Filter section, select Invoice as the Transaction Type.
  5. In the Customer dropdown, choose the names that appear on the previous report you created.
  6. Click Run report.

Additionally, here's an article containing options to handle customers and suppliers with open balances in QBO: Manage outstanding balances for customers and suppliers in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know whenever you need further help creating customer lists. I'll be happy to provide additional assistance. Take care, and have a good one.

Could it be possible to produce a list of NEW customers that have purchased over the course of x days? (first time customers)

Thank you very much, it was a clever workaround.  What if the question becomes customers that have been invoiced during the last X numbers of days or months regardless they are new or old.  For instance, this is used for a close friends and customers list.  All the best,  C.

Thank you for coming back to the Community, CharlieB65.

It's great to hear the reports shared by my colleague provided you with a list of customers you need (first time). Let's work together to customize the Invoice List report to see customers who have been invoiced for a specific period.

I'm here to help ensure you can accomplish this task in just a few clicks. Here's how:

  1. In your company, go to the Reports menu on the left panel to access the Reports Center
  2. Type Invoice List in the Search field.
  3. On the report's page, click the Report period drop-down to select Custom and then set the number of days or months in the designated fields.
  4. Tap the Group by drop-down and choose Customers
  5. Utilize the Customise function to add more details about the statement.
  6. Click the Run report button for the changes to take effect.

For a deeper dive into the process, check out this article: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online It provides step-by-step instructions on how to export statements, automate them, and even set filters for reports.

Could it be possible to produce a list of NEW customers that have purchased over the course of x days? (first time customers)

This solution works partially for the uses that my daughter needs...  She needs to be able to include the company name that is used for social media handle.  Any additional suggestions?  The modification or filters does not permit to include that particular column.   The need for the list of customer that have purchased between a date range will grant them special status and additional selected groups where special deals are posted before the rest.

Thank you in advance for your valuable help!

Hello, @CharlieB65. Thank you for re-engaging in this conversation. I'm here to assist you further in obtaining the customer list you require.

Before we proceed, may I know how you track the company name that is used for social media handles? This way, I can provide you with the right steps to address your concern.

For now, the option to add a specific column for the company name in the suggested report is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I understand how this feature could enhance your data review process within the program. Therefore, I will take note of this as a suggestion to enhance your user experience.

As a workaround, I'd recommend running the Invoice List report to see customers who have been invoiced for a specific period. Then, export the report to Excel. From there, you can manually add a specific column for the company name that is used for the social media handle.

Here are the steps to export your data:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Search for and select the report you want to export.
  3. At the top of the report, click the Export icon. Then, select Export to Excel.
  4. Save the file somewhere you can easily find, like your Downloads folder or your desktop.

In case the report you open in Excel is in protected view. Simply select Enable Editing to view the full report and edit your data.

Moreover, you can create custom reports in QuickBooks to get the data that matters to you most.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions with regard to obtaining the list you require in the program. I'm here to assist you further. Have a great day!

Could it be possible to produce a list of NEW customers that have purchased over the course of x days? (first time customers)

Is this workaround for ONLINE only?  I am not finding this in Quickbooks Desktop.  I am so frustrated.  I need to import my customers into constant contact from last year.  If i can't figure this out i will i have to use the whole database and there are thousands and thousands of names. I don't want to have to do this every time.
