I can guide you on splitting your bulky inventory into individual items in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Ibrahim.

To split the bedsheet set, let's add inventory items for each product:

  • Bedsheet Individual
  • Pillow Covers

Once done setting up the bedsheet set into individual items, we can now add each item when creating sales transactions:

If you want to send a sales transaction for the bedsheet set, you can select the Bundle for your products:

For future reference, let's generate a report to get insights on things you buy and sell: Use reports to see your sales and inventory status in QBO.

I'll be more than happy to assist with additional questions regarding splitting inventory items. Have a great day.

I have already added the inventory as a set. But now if a customer comes and says that he either wants bed sheet or a pillow. How do I do that?

Thanks for getting back to us in the thread, Ibrahim. I'll provide more details to help you sell specific items using the bundle inventory inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO, you can still sell a specific item even when you enter it as a bundle inside the program. To achieve this, you'll want to select the inventory bundle when creating an invoice and then click the Delete icon for the item your customer doesn't need. We'll outline the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, click the + New button.
  3. Select Invoice.
  4. Choose a customer and then add all the important details in each field.
  5. Below the Product or Service column, select bundle item you added to your company file. Products inside the bundle item will appear below.
  6. Click the Trash Bin icon on the item that your client doesn't need.
  7. Once done, click the Save or Save and send button.

Performing the steps I've added allows you to sell one specific item inside the bundle while using the original price of the selected product and not the package or bundle price.

How can I split a Bulky inventory into individual items. eg a bed sheet set ( having one 1 bedsheet and 2 pillow covers) into individual bed sheet and pillow covers

So i entered my stock 6 months ago as one set as an individual item. So first do I need to change that into bundle items? If so how can I do that without deleting the previous items that I have entered?

I appreciate your prompt reply, @ibrahim-hometexd.

Let me guide you on how to handle your inventory items without deleting the previous item.

Making the bedsheet set as a bundle is optional. As for the individual items (bedsheet and pillow covers), you can enter them as inventory items starting on the date you prefer without deleting the previous items you entered.

Also, here are some notes on how the Bundles feature works in QBO:

  • Bundles can have up to 50 items.
  • There's no additional markup or change in prices for it. (Bundles aren't assemblies.) The price of a bundle = The total price of all its items.
  • You can't track the quantity on hand for bundles.

Here's how to make it a Bundle item:

  1. Select Products and services from the Settings.
  2. Click the New tab and pick Bundle.
  3. Enter the product Name.
  4. From the Product/Service section, choose inventory items to make a bundle.
  5. Once done, click Save and close.

Moreover, unbuilding or separating a product to form pieces from a whole item isn't possible since the assembly feature is unavailable in QBO.

You can, however, consider using a third-party application for this type of function. Feel free to click this link to help you find one: Connect an app to QBO.

Moreover, I recommend reaching out to your accountant to guide you in entering this to avoid inventory excess or loss.

If you want to modify the item type of your inventory, you can read this article: Change product and service item types in QuickBooks Online.

I can help you manage your inventory items, Ibrahim.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), creating a product as a bundle maintains the inventory without needing to convert the inventory product. A bundle is simply group the items you can sell, allowing you to easily add multiple items to transactions for tracking in QuickBooks.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Products and services.
  2. Hit New and then choose Bundle.
  3. Add the product Name.
  4. From the Product/Service table, pick the inventory items to create a bundle.
  5. Click Save and close.

In addition, you can check this article to learn how to import a list of your products and services from Excel or CSV: Import products and services into QuickBooks Online.

Let me know in the comment section if you have additional concerns about the products and services items in your QBO. I'll be here anytime to help you.
