The easiest way to do this is directly from the Expenses tab of the left Dashboard.

These are the steps to follow:

From the left Dashboard > Expenses > Expenses

Select Filter and choose Account "Category" in question and hit Apply. This will pull the transactions you want to change the account. Select All (or choose transactions to change account)

Go to "Batch actions" and select "Categorize selected" option.

On the next screen, you can select Account Category you want and hit Apply button. That should do it. See screenshots below for reference.

Hope this helps!

I can guide you on how to correct multiple transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Marlon Landicho.

The easy way to correct multiple transactions debited to the wrong account is to access them in the Bank Register page. Then, edit per transaction to the correct bank or credit card account.

Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting in the left menu.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Choose the Bank account where the transactions have made. Then, click View Register.
  4. Click the Filter icon.
  5. Choose the Transaction Type and Date.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click on the transaction you need to correct. Then, click Edit.
  8. Change the correct bank/credit card account on the transaction.
  9. Click Save and close.
I have a link here that contain articles about managing money in and money out transactions: https://community.intuit.com/browse/quickbooks-online-intl-moneyin-moneyout.

You can always reply to this post if you need anything else with correcting transactions in QBO. I'm here to help.

How do you do this for multiple transactions ...... so I have a client who has charged >100 tranactions to his bank account when they should have been processed through his cash account. At the moment, I am having to fix each one individually. Is there a way to do this in bulk ?

Hi @Barheys,

At this time, the option to edit multiple transactions in a register is unavailable.

You'll have to delete these transactions one at a time. Right after, what I can suggest is to import the same transactions via a CSV file. This way, it saves you time rather than entering the same transactions by hand.

Take a look at this article for more information: Import bank transactions from .CSV to QuickBooks. It has the steps on how you can prepare the CSV file, as well as the upload process.

Feel free to post a reply if you have other concerns with your QuickBooks Online (QBO) bank registers. I'll be around to back you up.

@Barheys

Utilize a migration tool. Export your data out to XLS, modify, and import it back.

Hi There,

I would like to know if it's possible to move items list from 1 account to another account, will i lose all entries or will it move to the new account?

There was a mistake in the account and will need to move all entries, but i can't seem to find the function to bulk edit all 800 entries, please help!

@CaptainLCIQ

Do you need to migrate data between QBO accounts? You may utilize a migration tool as I mentioned in earlier post, or purchase a 3rd party migration service.

Check with QBO to be absolutely sure but I’m pretty certain there isn’t that kind of bulk edit facility available - best option is to export from QBO into a spreadsheet , delete from QBO and then reimport having made the correction off line - a faff but it is what I was advised to do in similar circumstances

Thanks for getting back to us, CaptainLCIQ. I can help provide some insights into migrating data from one QBO account to another.

We're unable to migrate transactions from one QBO account to another. However, you can export your QBO account to a Desktop trial version and then import that file into the new QBO account. You can refer to this article that will guide you through the process: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

You can also export and import data lists between accounts. I would suggest following this link on how to move your lists to QuickBooks Online.

As another option, you may consider looking for a third-party application to export the data out from the current account and import them into a new QBO. Please visit this website: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.

Keep me posted if you have any other concerns.

Hi @GlinetteC ,

Thank for the reply.

My issue is migrating entries from 1 old bank category to 1 new account entry.
The entries consists of Sales, Expenses and Refunds. The bank Entry was added manually, and i had to click in Bank History Page:

Go to Dashboard > select Accounting > select Chart of Accounts > Go to the selected Chart of Account entry action button, select Account History > from the Bank Account History page, select each entry that requires to be edited > Click Edit button > once landed on the entry page, click Payment Account dropdown list > select the correct account then, click Save and Close.

and i have to do this process for all 2k entries!

is there an easier way? Like from the Charts of Account page listing, far right action button to be able to select move account in one click that all the entry merged with the new account redardsless.

OR

select bulk transaction and move to intended new account!

Hello, @CaptainLCIQ.

Thank you for getting back to us and providing us with more details of the concern you're having.

That'll surely be a great addition to the current features that we have in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The ability to edit transactions in bulk will surely save your time, so I'll be sure to take note of it. In the meantime, you'll need to edit those bank transactions one-by-one.

For now, you can visit the QuickBooks Blog to check for new updates and features that we have.

Let me know if there is anything that I can help you with your transactions by leaving a comment below. Take care and have a great rest of the day!

Thank you @MJoy_D . Would appreciate to have Bulk features in near future - extended to at least all types of entry page.
