We can’t save your transaction right now. Your taxes are still being calculated.

Is anyone else excessively annoyed that Intuit decided to slap up a canned message about calculating taxes when trying to save even on invoices where no tax is applied?

We can’t save your transaction right now. Your taxes are still being calculated.

Saving an entry and accurately calculating taxes is crucial for a business, AnalogyConsulting. We can troubleshoot to eliminate the error.

I recognize the significance of creating a transaction or saving an invoice with no taxes smoothly. Sometimes, this odd behavior happens due to browser-related concerns. In the meantime, access your QuickBooks account using an incognito or private browsing window to determine if the issue is related to the webpage.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts you can utilize:

  • For Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N

Once there, log in to your QuickBooks account to create and save an entry, then check if the error disappears successfully. If it works, I suggest clearing your default browser's cache. Otherwise, utilize other supported browsers as alternatives.

See this article to learn how to register customer settlements: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

If you need to combine the payments, put them in the Undeposited Funds account. This way, you can group multiple payments into one deposit.

Still the same issue in an incognito tab. Taxes were already calculated. I simply changed the invoice date, clicked Save, and the same error arose.  It works the second time you click it.

I have a lingering feeling that the devs tossed this error in place of not being able to save fast enough and displaying this 'error' in an attempt to hide the delay.

Anyone else want to chime in with their experiences?

I already know what will happen. They'll have me clear my cookies, cache, try different browsers, etc, and when they see it still happens, they'll "Submit it the engineering team" who will chuckle and disregard it until they decide they want to fix it or they just want to keep it as a 'feature' to stop people from clicking 'Save' too quickly. I've grown accustomed to how companies like this work these days and until the behavior is changed and companies are again led by innovation and customer happiness, issues like this will never go away. I'm just very annoyed at how "Customer Service" works these days.
