When i add a note in a customer transaction page, it does not save it. next time i open page, it is gone

I'll help you add a note to your customer's transaction, waqaryousuf-swy-.

We can either include a note in the Message on invoice field or create a default message in the custom field. I'll guide you how.

If you'd like to add the note in the Message on invoice field, I suggest following the steps below:

  1. Go to the + New.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. Choose the name of the customer.
  4. Enter the necessary details.
  5. In the Message on invoice field, type in the note you'd like to add.
  6. Once done, select Save and close.

In case you want to add the message in the custom filed, here's how:

  1. Click on the Gear icon at the top, then Custom Form Styles.
  2. Choose New style or choose the type of transaction you want to customize.
  3. Select the Content tab.
  4. Click the bottom part of the form.
  5. In the Message to customer field, type your default message.
  6. Click Done.
  7. Then, you can now create an invoice using the new form.

Once done, you can run the Transaction List by Customer report to see your note. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Type in Transaction List by Customer in the search bar, then click to open.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Under Report period, select the correct date.
  5. On the Rows/Columns, select Change columns.
  6. Then, place a checkmark in the box beside Customer/Supplier Message.
  7. Once done, click on Run report.

However, if you're still unable to add a note to the transactions, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. The stored cache in your browser can affect the performance of QuickBooks Online that can cause unexpected behavior.

To begin, I suggest logging in to your QuickBooks Online account via a private window. This doesn't use the existing cache files, which makes it a good place to determine if there's an issue with the browser.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

Once signed in, try adding a note. If it works, let's clear the cache of your browser. This helps remove its stored cache to improve the program's performance.

If private browsing doesn't work, I encourage using different browsers. They'll provide you the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks. For more details, I suggest checking out this article: System Requirements for QuickBooks.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you design your custom form styles for your invoices or estimates, then import them in QuickBooks Online: Import Custom Form Styles.

Please let us know if you have additional concerns or questions about adding a message. This helps us provide an accurate solution for you.
