Let me chime in and provide additional details about uploading company files from QuickBooks Desktop to Online, @userdonaldnothnagel8.

You can convert QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) data to QuickBooks Online (QBO) if using the US, UK, and Canada versions. Ensure also to have the latest version of QuickBooks to perform this task.

Before anything else, let's review this resource to guide you on the things you have to remember before converting your data: Import Data Conversion to QuickBooks Online - Frequently Asked Questions.

Nevertheless, to convert your file, I suggest creating a backup copy of your old version of QBDT and convert it to the latest version. That way, you can import your file to QBO.

Here's how:

  1. Download and install a trial version of the latest QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu.
  3. Click Open or Restore Company.
  4. Select Restore a backup copy.
  5. Find and open the backup copy of your data.
  6. Select Open and click Save.

Once done, choose the File menu and then click Copy Company File for QuickBooks Online under Utilities. For detailed steps about the process, you can refer to this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

I've also added this link for reference on how to handle the situation in case you run into some errors when converting your company data.

Once done converting your files, let me share these articles to guide you on how to manage your QBO account:
