Why isn't there an option to delete a payment method (credit card) used for subscription?

I searched everywhere and found out that there is no way to delete a payment method (credit card) I previously used to pay for my QBO subscription. There is an option to update billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online. You can also add a new payment method but you cannot delete a card you are no longer using. Why isn't there an option to delete any of the other cards I previously added? I don't want those cards stored in QuickBooks Online. Can someone tell me how to remove / delete those payment methods? I even contacted a specialist. They told me they were going to transfer me to the Payments Team but then they disconnected and left the chat. What kind of service is this?

Steps to update or add a payment method (no delete option):

Go to Account and Settings > Billing & subscription > Payment Method

Click the pencil or edit icon.

Your payment methods will be listed.

Click "more" to see all your other cards payment methods.

The only options are to edit the existing payment methods or to add a new one. There is no delete.

Hello. I found that if you go into your master Intuit (not QB) account here, https://accounts.intuit.com/index.html

you can edit and delete any payment methods that aren't being used.

I can see how the benefit of being able to delete a payment method (credit card) used for your subscription would aid you in managing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, @CelestialMochi. That's why I'm here to share a few details about this.

You're unable to delete a payment method in QBO for transaction history purposes. With this, you're able to track all your subscription payments.

We take customer suggestions as opportunities to improve the various features within our products. Therefore, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations.

Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I've attached screenshots below that show the first four steps.

Also, to further guide you in managing your QBO account, whether you need to update the card on file, change your subscription, or view your billing history, you can refer to this article: Update billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online. It also includes answers to the most commonly asked questions about it.

I'm all ears if you have other account management concerns in QBO. Please don't hesitate to drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @CelestialMochi.

I will also submit this feedback. Your explanation is disingenuous at best. Keeping credit cards on file is completely  unnecessary to keep track of how many payments an account had made, even if it were necessary to keep track of the specific payment method. IE I don’t want you to have the ability to continue to process payments on this card and by not allowing the card to be removed you are only protecting your ability to continue to process payments.

The list of what QBO users want most (https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/) compared to what is actually getting released (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accountants/news-community/product-updates/) demonstrates how little Intuit values user feedback.

Why should we submit feedback when our feedback is routinely ignored?

I'm having the same issue. QBO doesn't care and won't fix it; don't bother submitting feedback. No one looks at it.  Just change the details in the CCV and the expiration date so that any charges will bounce.  Waste their time, not yours.

Why isn't there an option to delete a payment method (credit card) used for subscription?

Thank you. This is what I was looking for. I'm not sure why customer service doesn't know anything about this. The only card I could not delete is the "expired" card (or the card that was lost and replaced with a new card). Since I couldn't update the card information, the system won't allow me to remove the card.

I accidentally put in a card from the wrong company, and I absolutely need to remove it, and I cannot. This is unnacceptable.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Todo. I can see urgency about the inability to delete a payment method associated with your subscription, so let me share some information regarding this matter.

Since we're talking about subscription, please know that you cannot delete the payment method directly. Instead, you can easily update it to the correct card in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To do that, here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBO account as a primary admin.
  2. Click on the Gear icon and select Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Locate your payment method and click Edit.
  4. Select your desired payment method and enter the required details.
  5. Once you’ve made your updates, hit Save.

If you need further assistance, you can contact our QuickBooks Online Support team. They can guide you and provide alternative solutions, or even assist with updating your payment method directly.

Aside from your subscription, you can also get more tips about your data security, company information, login credentials, and more through this link: Access and manage your personal data from your Intuit Account.

When everything is set, you can explore these resources for upcoming tasks in QBO:
