How to download a file in txt form?

Hello there. Welcome to the Community.

I'll gladly share some insights about downloading data from your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account so you can keep a record of your business' growth and transactions accordingly.

Before we start, I'd like to verify the kind of file you want to download from QBO. Any additional details are welcome for me to provide the appropriate resolution for your concern.

QuickBooks made it easy for you to download reports and lists by utilizing the Export data tool. For the time being, the option to directly download a file in text form is unavailable. You'll first have to export your reports and lists in Excel format and manually save them as Text type. To do this, here's how:

  1. Go to the Settings or Gear ⚙ icon.
  2. Under Tools, select Export data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by toggling the slider.
  5. Select Export to Excel.

If you wish to learn more about the process above and guide you in exporting transactions and attachments, please see this article: Export data, reports, lists, and more from QuickBooks Online.

Also, you may want to check out one of our Help pages as your reference to guide you in importing and exporting data in QBO: Import and Export Data for QuickBooks Online.

I've got you covered if you have other concerns about exporting your data from QBO. You can leave a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care always!

How to download a file in txt form?

Although your reply is helpful if someone is looking for excel downloads of the various financial reports, it does to answer the question asked, which was, how to download the information is a TXT format. I did read where you indicated it's not available - what is most unfortunate about this, is that Intuit's own Turbo Tax requests a .txt file for import to avoid having the business owner manually enter in all the detail. Right hand is not talking to the left, and Intuit's clients are paying the price.
