Custom report trouble

I am having trouble running custom reports. After choosing my report, I click the printer icon/choose layout/then green print key. I get "this page isn't working. If the problem continues, contact the site owner. HTTP Error 400" I then have to save as a PDF and print from there. Why doesn't this work anymore?

Custom report trouble

Let me guide you on troubleshooting the printing issues with the error code 400 with your Custom Reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Sometimes, browsing data can hinder your ability to print custom reports, and error 400 in QBO may occur due to invalid or incomplete data, API request issues, or connectivity problems with the server. For troubleshooting, consider using a private window, as it won't retain any additional files. Here's how:

  1. Try using a private or incognito browser.
  2. Restart your browser, and clear your browser's cache.
  3. Then add Intuit as a trusted site.

To open an incognito window, you can follow these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Press keys: Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browser)
  • Press keys: Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome browser)
  • Press keys: Command + Shift + N (Safari browser)

Custom report trouble

MsNorth,

While I appreciate your quick reply, I don't understand the need to go these extra steps when it worked perfectly in the past without them.  Why do I now have to open an icognito browser, etc.? What happened that changed all this? Opening a new icognito browser, clearing the cache, etc., is no more user friendly that what I'm currently doing, which is saving the report as a PDF then printing from there.  The error message clearly says it's a "site" error, meaning it's not on my end.

Thank you though, for trying to help.

Custom report trouble

Hello there.

I understand you're facing error codes when running custom reports and printing them. Rest assured, I'm here to help you resolve this immediately.

Many users, not just QuickBooks users, commonly experience the 400 Bad Request error code. When you're facing an Error 400 status code, this means that the server side will not process the request due to something perceived to be a client-side error, such as a missing or incorrect API endpoint or corrupted cache and cookies.

To fix this, you'll need to refresh the old data from your system and request new ones from the server side. Rest assured, these steps don't destroy any local files stored in your device. Here's how to do this if you're using a Windows PC:

  1. Disconnect your internet connection from your device and close all programs, especially browsers.
  2. On your keyboard, press Windows + R to open Run.
  3. Type %temp% and press Enter.
  4. Select all the files inside the temp folder and delete them. These are all temporary files that are saved in your computer starting the time when you recently turned on your computer. Deleting these won't affect any important files saved on your device.
  5. If you see an error prompt saying, Unfortunately, this file can't be deleted as it's opened by another program, click Skip and restart your computer.
  6. Open QuickBooks Online using any browser.

If the problem persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online support to have this case investigated thoroughly.

After pulling up customized reports in QBO, you can also consider setting a schedule and email information for a memorized report in your QBO account.
