Hi there, ciaranjkmurphy.

Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community. This isn't the kind of impression that I'd like you to have, and we know how much time it can take when the Vat report isn’t working the way you need it.

We recently received a statement that VAT reports are not working properly or getting an error message. We're unable to provide an exact time frame when this will be fixed. Rest assured that our engineers are working to identify the cause of this issue to provide a solution as soon as possible.

In the meantime, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team, so they can add you to our notification list. This will help our engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll also receive an update through email once this has been resolved.

Here's how:

  1. Click the (?) Help icon.
  2. From the QB Assistant enter the topic you need help with. You can also enter questions.
  3. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  4. Choose Chat to connect with our support.

Please refer to this article to view steps on how you can personalise your various reports to filter them to show specific accounts or format the layout so the right data shows up: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know how it goes or if you have any other issues in the comment section below. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. I'm always here to help. Have a wonderful day!

I appreciate you for joining this thread, @Ardmore1962.

I recognize the importance of filing your tax on time. Rest assured, our engineering is all hand in fixing this as soon as possible. In the meantime, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get around this issue.

I recommend accessing your account in a private or incognito and run view the report from there. There are times the browser is full of cache files that affect the performance of your account.

Using a private window is a great tool in identifying the issue as this doesn't save any cache and cookies data. To open an incognito window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

  • For Google Chrome browser - press keys: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browser - press keys: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser - press keys: Command + Shift + N

If you're able to access your VAT report, I recommend deleting your regular browser's cache to refresh the system. If the issue remains, I suggest using other supported browsers. This way, we can check if this a browser-integrated issue.

If the issue remains, I recommend contacting our Support team. This way, you'll be added to the list (Investigation No. 57948) of affected users and will be notified via email of any updates.

Once everything is settled, utilize this link for reference in filing your return efficiently: File your tax return and record tax payment in QuickBooks Online.

Please bear with us as we're working to resolve this. In case you have any other concerns managing your reports or account, you can always get back to me. I'll be here to assist you. Keep safe!
