We understand that recent updates to Westpac, St George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA security protocols have affected the standard bank feed connections to QuickBooks Online, Michael.
Westpac and its partners have recently enhanced their security measures and, as a result, have phased out support for standard data feeds.
To provide you with a more secure and stable banking experience, we recommend upgrading to a direct bank feed for your savings, checking, and loan accounts. This will help you better safeguard your financial information while allowing for seamless access to your account data.
If your account meets the necessary qualifications, please check this article for guidance on managing your bank connection to QuickBooks.
However, direct feeds are currently not available for credit card accounts. As a workaround, we can manually upload your transactions using a CSV file into QuickBooks Online.
For the latest updates concerning these changes, we recommend reaching out to our dedicated phone support team. Here’s how you can contact them:
After you've connected your bank or downloaded your latest transactions, you might want to categorise these transactions to put them in the correct account.

@IrishA Your response completely fails to address the issue. What did Westpac change and why was Quickbooks UNAWARE of this change ? And when will Quickbooks fix the issue ?
We acknowledge the importance of receiving accurate details about your concerns, Michael.
The instructions provided by my colleague are the measures you can take to continue managing your Westpac bank feeds. To handle the Authentication Failed error you've received, follow the steps from the articles below that vary by account type.
If you have transaction accounts (excluding foreign currency accounts), you're eligible to upgrade to direct bank feeds. Refer to these links for further guidance:
Credit card or foreign currency transaction accounts are not eligible for Westpac direct bank feeds. If you belong to this category, you'll need to manually import your data into QuickBooks in a CSV file format.
Please know that QuickBooks relies solely on the information that Westpac shares about its security and connectivity updates. The email you've received about the discontinuation of the standard bank feed was sent by Intuit, containing details shared with us by Westpac. To learn more about the reasons for its implementation, I recommend contacting Westpac's customer support team directly.
