by Intuit•22• Updated 3 weeks ago

Once a transaction is deleted in QuickBooks Online, it can't be restored. However, you can use the Audit log to find the details of the deleted transaction and re-enter it manually.

A lightbulb icon With QuickBooks Online Advanced, you can create your own reports using Custom Report Builder.

Find and re-enter deleted transaction details

Here is how to locate the details of a deleted transaction using the Audit log:

  1. Go to Settings Settings gear icon..
  2. Go to Tools and select Audit log.
  3. Select the appropriate user, date, and event(s) filter.
  4. Locate the deleted transaction.
Tip: To easily find deleted transactions, use the browser search (Ctrl + F) and type "Deleted."
  5. Under the History column, select View.
  6. Find all the information for the transaction.
  7. Recreate the transaction with its original transaction date using the information from the Audit log.
Note:
  • Audit log only works for transactions that were saved. There is no available report for deleted transactions. Consider voiding a transaction instead of deleting or completely removing it from your records.
